Reflection 5

Katiana Cokinos
2 things that happened on Election Day:
1. Ms. Pollett told me not to vote if Im going to vote for Hillary.
2. The gym teacher led the class in chanting Hillary.
My lesson was the following day. I had high expectations for it and was
excited about the activities I had planned. The kids were rowdy,
misbehaved, and unengaged. Maybe this was because it was the end
of the day, with no school the following day? I thought that the
cupcakes at the end would have helped with their behavior, because I
told them they would get one if they were good. That didnt seem to
even faze them. I wish you could have stayed for the whole lesson,
because at least the second half was a little less chaotic. We wrote
letters to veterans, thanking them for their service and wishing them a
happy Veterans Day. The kids who had family members who are
veterans wrote to them, which those kids were excited about. I realized
that the assignments I gave them were simply too hard for them. I
didnt think that this would be a problem, but this is what made
students so frustrated. I wanted to cry after my lesson and I wanted to
ask you if I absolutely HAVE to teach a second one. After giving it some
thought, I know that my next lesson needs to be more hands-on and
fun for the kids and less work.
