ANALYSIS:
1. For each of your group members, was his/her pulse rate within normal range? Give evidence to
support your answer
a. Yes, each of my group members had a pulse rate within normal range: 50, 40, 44, and
56.
2. For each of your group members, was his/her blood pressure within normal range? Give
evidence to support your answer

122/70, 115/50, and 122/72.
3. For each of your group members, was his/her reflex reaction within normal range? Give
evidence to support your answer
a. Yes, each of my group members had a reflex reaction within normal range, all results
were positive.
4. For each of your group members, was his/her pupillary response within normal range? Give
evidence to support your answer
a. There were som differences but every member in my group had a normal response,
Matt had a 4 on the left and 3 on the right, Billy had a 2 on the left and 3 on the right,
Khalid had a 3 on the left and a 4 on the right, and Tim had a 3 on both eyes.

being below 90.
CONCLUSION:
In paragraph form, answer the following:
1. Was your hypothesis supported? Give evidence to support your answer.
2. Explain any experimental errors that may have affected your results.
3. Do you believe that a pre-participation exam is necessary for someone who is going to start an
exercise program or participate in an athletic activity? Support your answer.

Yes, my hypothesis was supported because every member in my group participates in a sport
and all of our results showed that we were healthy and in shape. All of our blood pressures,
pulses, reflex reactions, and flexibility were well within normal range. We may have been
slightly too far away from the pulse to get a very accurate reading for pulse rate but we still
got accurate results in the end. Yes, I think that a pre-participation exam is necessary for
someone who is going to start an exercise program or participate in an athletic activity
because it is important to make sure that there are no irregularities with their pulse and blood
pressure because you could find out that they have heart palpitations or any heart disorder
that could affect their participation in the sport. You could also discover that they are
extremely inflexible which would require training beforehand. You could also discover that
they had a delayed reflex reaction which could mean that they had some sort of muscle
irregularity. All of these tests help make sure that the participant is healthy and safe to
participate in an athletic activity.
