Addition and subtraction facts for units, multiples of 10, multiples of 100 and multiples of 1 000, the
additive properties of 1, Addition and subtraction as inverse operations, Place value.
1. Explanation and exercise with regard to number differences.
2. Odd and even numbers (differentiating). Link this into place value and value of each. Ascending and
descending order.
3. Copying and completing the number patterns, filling in the missing number on number lines. Looking at
numbers -as words and vice versa

various number patterns, Input and output tables.
Examples and demonstration of a missing number in various number sentences. Finding the missing numbers -as
a place holder. Changing the grouping of various numbers to make it easier e.g., (17 +86) +3 is easier as (17 + 3) +
86.
Linking patterns with various examples e.g., 2, 5, 8, 11 links in with adding 3 each time. Learners make their own
patterns. Various input output tables should be done. All to prep for 24/01

so on . Litres and millilitres converting DATA HANDLING: Graphing aspects of above

presentation on what you can find out about shapes -presentation in class.
MEASURING: 2.1 Numerous examples with explanation of basics of telling the time. Numerous examples and
exercises using clock faces.

1) Conducting a survey about common initials. Summarizing the data collected, the mode, making

1) Examples of a bar graph are illustrated and explained. The learners then draw their own bar-graph -with the
guidance of the teacher. This should be done by means of a case study.

2) Measurement: time
1) multiplying and dividing 2 digit numbers by 2 digits (6hrs) .
2) Time: Analogue and digital clocks. The time between two clocks i.e., in hours and minutes.
Converting between months, weeks and years.
1) Examples with exercises -using common routine (column).
2) Numerous examples -using a time line to help the learners see how to work out the difference between one
point in time and another. Examples in terms of days, weeks, months and so on. Use of the calendar for various .
Looking at the number of days on the calendar i.e., between two given dates.

Revision for the impending cycle test on the 8th March. Incorporate price of items as
an addition to be included in the cycle test
Covering the mains sections that have been done in the previous weeks. Use the SBA tests as a basis
to build upon for the cycle test -allowing the learners to have something to derive content.
Numerous examples and samples on worksheets. These are to be done together, with the teacher on the
interactive whiteboard. Numerous exercises are done -then revised on the board. Learners evaluate their
understanding on the basis of corrections.
Give opportunity for learners to work interactively i.e., to have another helping to understand. Thus we have
peer evaluation and the opportunity to present what they know -this should be at the end of the learning process.

barriers. From 1, we should be able to identify the weak areas.
2) comparing numbers of sorts in terms of place value (6 digit numbers). 3e can use the PracMaths (Grade 5) to
do exercises in regard to these.
