Dear Senior Exploration Judge:
Before I begin, I would like to thank you for the time and effort put into analyzing my senior
project. Presenting the project is one of the last challenges connected with high school. Even
while attending elementary school, the idea of graduating intrigued students. Growing up, many
obstacles had to be overcome. Parents divorcing, family tragedies, and moving resulted in
prosperity of strength and the ability to think before acting. Walking through the crowded halls
of St. James, the memories came flooding back, all at once in no particular order. Freshman
year, the year I began to grow and became more comfortable in new environments. I was put in
the position to meet upperclassman due to the classes I was taking and was able to learn from
juniors and seniors. The students had educated myself on respectfulness and the importance of
honesty. High school is no place for excuses unlike middle schools, therefore breaking the habit
became of the utmost importance. Sophomore year was the year in which patience was
understood. After moving twice, the patience used while enrolling in school and starting over
was key. Junior year required time management and diligence. It was the year when the SATs
and ACTs must be taken and colleges bombard mailboxes with insignificant brochures. Now
senior year is in full swing and the eagerness to graduate is severe.
Determining what topic to research for the senior project was a tough, time consuming decision.
After analyzing a complex variety of topics, my final decision was energy conservation. With
myself being an intern at Carolina Energy Conservation, the decision was inevitable.
Researching energy conservation impacted my life greatly, as it granted myself the capability to
experience a more in depth, complicated topic and interact with professionals of that field
intellectually. While my background in energy conservation supplied myself with rebate and
incentive knowledge, the research done explained a wider variety of energy conservation
options, spanning from spray foam insulation to crawl space encapsulation. The information

obtained from exploration allowed myself to produce appealing papers and an overall
informative project. Completing the senior project will benefit my future by supplying skills such
as time management, good work ethic and social etiquette.
The Senior Exploration was an incredible experience. Having the privilege to speak with well
knowledged people who take pride in energy conservation was a tremendous benefit for myself.
While the senior project was quite the journey, there were obstacles I had to overcome. One of
the major hurdles was time management. With different dates scattered throughout two months
the use of time wisely became the primary concern. Another challenge I had faced was
understanding the social skills and respectfulness needed when interacting with professionals.
The information that had been taught opened my eyes to important information that, in the
future, will put myself a step ahead of others competing for a career in energy conservation.
While the Senior Exploration created a massive amount of stress, I am now confident I have an
improved comprehension of college and am better prepared.
Thank you for participating in our Senior Exploration and taking the time to review our projects.
I greatly appreciate the time spent listening to my presentation. Energy conservation is a topic
that will always interest myself and having the opportunity to share the research I found to be
fascinating is an amazing experience. The Senior Exploration has better prepared myself for
college and the challenges faced helped me become a more rounded student. While the project
did consume a large portion of senior year, the life lessons and opportunities presented through
this experience have helped myself grow, not just as a student but as a person.
Sincerely,

Danielle Kvadas
