Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) o controladores lgicos programables como los
conocemos los hispanohablantes, se han convertido en elementos importantes para los
sistemas automatizados. Debido a que han aumentado constantemente en capacidad a la
vez que disminuido en costo. Actualmente los PLCs se han establecido como el estndar en
el sector, como el dispositivo de eleccin para una amplia variedad de tareas de control.

Qu es un PLC? En breves palabras, un PLC es un dispositivo electrnico

digital con una memoria programable que secuencia las instrucciones que almacena. Estas
instrucciones permiten al PLC realizar diversas funciones de control tiles como, la lgica de
rels, conteo, temporizacin, secuenciacin y clculos aritmticos. Estas funciones
normalmente se utilizan para monitorizar y controlar mquinas individuales o procesos
complejos a travs de entradas y salidas (E / S). Los mdulos de E/S conectados al PLC
proporcionan interfaces analgicas o digitales con el mundo exterior, esto quiere decir que
los PLCs leen entradas, las procesan a travs de un programa y genera salidas.
