INSPIRA
Continued from cover
Deterra product was available for community members to dispose of their unused
medications and they also received Deterra
pouches to take home. An Inspira pharmacist was available for community members
to discuss their current medications and
review possible duplications, interactions,
dosing and more. Local elected officials,
representatives from the Southwest
Council, prosecutors, law enforcement,
physicians and other community leaders
were present at the event.
Kicking off the press conference was
Elizabeth Sheridan, Chief Operating
Officer of Inspira Medical Center, who
explained that Inspira bought 50,000
pouches of Deterra at a cost of $174,000.
Since each pouch can safely destroy up to
90 pills, the potential community impact is
up to 4.5 million pills taken off the streets.

Innovation Center building that is currently being constructed down the street from
the mural.
We are currently working on the
development of the Glasstown Creative
Enterprise Center, which will be a mixeduse site that serves as a small business
incubator, says Heather Santoro, of the
HCDC. We also served as the lead agency
in coordinating the Center City Playstreets
initiative, which provided free activity for
youth and families this past summer, just
to name a few.
It was during those Playstreets events
that local children were encouraged to
offer their ideas and input for the mural,
according to Marianne Lods, executive
director of the District.
There is a large contingent of people
and organizations that have been working
together over the course of the last few
years, all with a common goal of revitalizing the Center City neighborhood, adds
Santoro. This is just one example [of several] which shows the kind of impact that
can be made when organizations and the
community at large work together. We
have found that programs and projects are
more successful and have more impact
when they are a collaborative effort.
At a chilly December 1 dedication ceremony, several city officials, local dignitaries, artists and others from the local arts
sphere joined Montiero to officially
announce the completion of the mural.
That group included Pat Witt, the matriarch, teacher and founder of Millvilles
arts district. She is depicted in the mural,
which will serve in part as a new gateway
to the Glasstown Arts District, says Lods.
Its the gateway to downtown Millville
that reflects its past, present and future,
says Lods at the ceremony, and thats
pretty much what community is all about.
The mural depicts such images related
to Millvilles past as glassblowers, a child
working at a potters wheel, the Millville
Airport, plus present-day scenes such as
the Levoy Theatre, as well as the Millville
