NOTE: Thecylinderheadboltsaretightenedusingatorque
plusangleprocedure.Theboltsmustbeexamined
BEFOREreuse.Ifthethreadsareneckeddown(2)
theboltsshouldbereplaced.
Neckingcanbecheckedbyholdingastraightedgeagainstthe
threads.Ifallthethreadsdonotcontactthescale,theboltshould
bereplaced.

CAUTION: Whencleaningcylinderheadandcylinderblock
surfaces,DONOTuseametalscraper(1),high
speedscotchbrite(2)orrolocktool(3)because
thesurfacescouldbecutorground.Useonlya
woodenorplasticscraper(4).
1. Cleanthecylinderheadandcylinderblockmatingsurfaces.

2. Positionthenewcylinderheadgasketonthelocatingdowels.
CAUTION: Wheninstallingcylinderhead,usecarenot
damagethetensionerarmortheguidearm.
3. Positionthecylinderheadontothecylinderblock.Makesure
thecylinderheadseatsfullyoverthelocatingdowels.
NOTE: ThefourM8cylinderheadmountingbolts(1)require
sealanttobeaddedtothembeforeinstalling.Failure
todosomaycauseleaks.
4. Lubricatethecylinderheadboltthreadswithcleanengineoil
andinstalltheeightM10bolts.
5. CoatthefourM8cylinderheadboltswithMoparLockand
SealAdhesivetheninstallthebolts.
NOTE: Thecylinderheadboltsaretightenedusinganangle
torqueprocedure,however,theboltsarenota
torquetoyielddesign.

Step1:Tightenbolts18,27Nm(20ft.lbs.).
Step2:Verifythatbolts18,allreached27Nm(20ft.
lbs.),byrepeatingstep1withoutlooseningthebolts.
Tightenbolts9thru12to14Nm(10ft.lbs.).
Step3:Tightenbolts18,90.
Step4:Tightenbolts18,90,again.Tightenbolts912,26
Nm(19ft.lbs.)

theV6mark(1)onthegearthenusingtheCamshaftHolder8428A,positionthegearontothecamshaft.
CAUTION: Removeexcessoilfromcamshaftsprocketretainingboltbeforereinstallingbolt.Failuretodosomay
causeovertorquingofboltresultinginboltfailure.
8. Installthecamshaftdrivegearretainingbolt.
9. Installtherightsidesecondarychainguide(Referto09Engine/ValveTiming/SPROCKET(S),TimingBeltandChain
Installation).

10. Installthecylinderheadaccessplug(1,2).
11. Resetandinstalltherightsidesecondarychain
tensioner(Referto09Engine/ValveTiming/CHAINand
SPROCKETS,TimingInstallation).

12. RemovetheCamshaftHolder8429(1).
13. Installthetimingchaincover(Referto09Engine/Valve
Timing/COVER(S),EngineTimingRemoval)
REMOVAL).
14. Installthecrankshaftdamper(Referto09Engine/Engine
Block/DAMPER,VibrationInstallation).Tightendamper
bolt175Nm(130Ft.Lbs.).
15. Installaccessorydrivebelt(Referto07Cooling/Accessory
Drive/BELT,SerpentineInstallation).
16. Installthefanshroud(Referto07Cooling/Engine/FAN,
CoolingInstallation).
17. Installthecylinderheadcover(Referto09Engine/Cylinder
