COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will create and learn digital media
applications
such
as
text,
graphics,
animation, sound, video and digital imaging
for various formats. These projects will
showcase the student skills and ability.
Emphasis will be placed on effective use of
tools for interactive multimedia production
including storyboarding, visual development,
project management, digital citizenship, and
web processes. Students will create and
design web sites that incorporate digital
media elements to enhance content of web
site.
Various forms of technologies, including
videos, will be used to expose students to
the emerging technologies impacting the
business world. Professional communication
skills and practices, problem-solving, ethical
and legal issues, and the impact of effective
presentation skills are taught in this course
as a foundational knowledge to prepare
students to be college and career ready.
Employability skills are integrated into
activities, tasks, and projects to demonstrate
the skills required by business and industry.
Competencies in the co-curricular student
organization, Future Business Leaders of
America (FBLA), are integral components of
the employability skills standard for this
course.
Digital Design is the second course in the
Web and Digital Design pathway in the
Information Technology cluster. Students
enrolled in this course should have
successfully completed Introduction
to
Digital Technology and Fundamentals. At the
conclusion of the pathway, students will take
the CIW Site Development Associate exam
for the End of Pathway Assessment.

STANDARDS:
IT-IDT 1 Demonstrate employability skills

current state of the web, functions of the
web, and future trends emerging of the web.
IT-IDT-3 Identify logistical, ethical, and legal

concepts to use of text, graphics, animation,

IT-IDT-4 Develop a plan to create, design, and
market a web site with digital content to a
specific target market.
IT-IDT-5 Explore and write using the various writing s
used on web sites and in digital content to get the
intended message across.
IT-IDT-6 Identify and develop model digital products
that reveal a professional layout and look by applyin
design principles to produce professional quality pro
IT-IDT-7 Create and edit images and graphics.
IT-IDT-8 Plan, produce, edit, and publish digital audio

video project.

integral parts of career and technology education
courses through leadership development, school and
community service projects, entrepreneurship develo

FBLA
Future Business Leaders of
America
is
a
co-curricular
student organization that plays
an integral part in this course.
FBLA activities are incorporated
throughout this course. Students are strongly
urged to join FBLA to benefit from the wealth
of opportunities the organization has to offer.

GRADING POLICIES
Course grading will be based upon
points earned by observations,
production assignments, written
assignments, presentations, tests,
quizzes, and projects directly
related to the course standards.
(Daily Grades 40%; Projects & Tests 60%).
Yearly grade= Semester Average (80%)
Final Exam (20%).

Academic Honesty:
Cheating, lying,
stealing, plagiarism, or variations of these
offenses are serious breaches of the Honor
Code. For violations, a grade of zero will be
given for the assignment. Students will also
be subject to administrative discipline.
MAKE-UP WORK
Students will have 3 days after return from
an excused absence to make up any
assignments missed.
It is the students
responsibility to make an appointment with
the teacher for make-up work. Please refer to
the WHS student handbook for the
attendance policy.

assigned. This includes internet use. The
internet is to be used only for educational
purposes, not for entertainment, games,
social media, or other personal use. DO
NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING. DO NOT
PERSONALIZE YOUR COMPUTER IN ANY
WAY.
Turn off cell phone and put away. You may
not charge your phone in class. (No
warnings; I will take up the phone the first
time.)
No headphones or music devices unless
required for the assignment.
Use supplies wisely to conserve paper
and toner.
Do not bring food, drink, gum, or
electronic devices into the classroom (see
student handbook).
CONSEQUENCES IF YOU CHOOSE
TO BREAK THE RULES

Verbal Warning, Conference with


teacher, Telephone conference with
parent, or Discipline Referral.
Serious issues will be dealt with immediately
through the disciplinary referral system as
described in the student handbook.
