This document provides instructions for calculating isokinetic sampling flow rate and determining suspended particulate matter (SPM) concentration from a sample. The isokinetic sampling flow rate is calculated based on nozzle size and ensures the rate falls within the range of a 30-LPM rotameter. A sample is taken by adjusting the flow rate to account for the gaseous flow and collecting dust for a set time. The SPM concentration is calculated by dividing the weight of collected dust by the volume of sampled flue gas. An example calculation is provided.

Isokinetic sampling flow rate may be calculated as
Qs = Qs x (25 + 273) Ts Where, Qs = V x An x 60 x 1000 The nozzles (1/4, 3/8 and 1/8) are to be selected in such a way so that Qs falls within the range of 30-LPM rotameter. If two or more nozzles are giving that much of flow then one (flow) falling in the centre of the range should be selected.

set on the gaseous rotameter) on 30-LPM rotameter for - minutes. Weight of the thimble after the sampling W2 gm Weight of dust collected W2 W1 gm Volume of flue gas = Qm x t SPM
