TASK 6: Interview your mentor on the roles and responsibilities of a teacher Step 1: Discuss with your mentor the roles and responsibilities of teachers in the school. Teachers have many responsibility at school. Its not just showing in classroom at time and give a lesson. We should be at school at 6:40 in the morning to watch over the early arrival kids. We monitor the buses and ask the bus drivers if any child misbehave in the bus. We attend the morning assembly. We mark the absent students and the delay once. After the lesson we correct the notebooks, we arrange special tutions for the kids who had learning difficulties. Some time we take the sick student to the school nurse call the parents and give them information. At home we do the worksheets, print them and make the lesson plan for the new lesson. These are some of our responsibility and we love it. EXAMPLES Roles/Responsibility: Ensure targets for the school are set at the beginning of the year Questions to ask MENTOR: a) What targets are important to set at the beginning of the year? To go through the annual plan , make sure the classes are ready, prepare the behavior charts and the welcome to school banner. b) How do you set targets for the children? We make a mock test to know what skills they have and what skill to focus on. Then we set the class target, excellent students and their enrichment materials. Week students and the intervention plan. c) Why are targets important for teaching and learning? Planning and targets keep you on the right track. It save time, it help use to manage the time. d) How do you monitor the progress of your targets?
