Semester Long Multimodal Proposal
For the semester long project we chose to focus on psychology. Our project will focus on
how negative addictions and habits in the lives of adolescents and college students can lead to
depression, trauma, and suicide. We will be researching the psychological correlation of the
effects/aspects of addictions and habits within adolescents and college students. We will be
approaching the research looking for general facts and information about addictions and habits
within people of this age range. While researching the information needed for addictions and
habits we will also research the amount of people in this age range with depression, trauma, or
suicidal thoughts/actions. When the research is complete, we will provide the audience with a
correlation of how negative addictions and habits can lead to depression, trauma, or suicidal
thoughts/actions.
To present our project, we will be using Microsoft PowerPoint to display and project our
ideas based on our topic. To gain access to information, we will use websites (.orgs, .gov, etc.),
books and articles that are valid and credible to support our claims. We will divide the project
into two parts. The first part of the presentation will focus on addictions and habits of
adolescents and college students. Such as why, how and when they began the habits and
addictions. Rather than focusing on just alcohol and drugs, a broad idea of habits and
addictions will be presented. The first part will also cover different facts and information of habits
and addictions that will lead to the second part of the presentation. The second part of the
presentation will then focus on the negative consequences of habits and addictions, that leads
to psychological illnesses and problems. Three main subtopics that will be presented in the
second part are suicide, depression and trauma. The second part will focus on how adolescents

and college students addiction and habits will lead to various types of repercussions. The three
subtopics will be analyzed and described to the audience, to present how negative habits and
addictions can be. To conclude the presentation, we will connect and correlate the ideas to
ourselves and to the world, simply to provide real life connections.
Our proposed plan is appropriate and effective for our topic because addictions, habits,
depression, trauma, and suicide all derive from psychology; they all branch from behavior and
mental processes. Addictions, habits, depression, trauma, and suicide are relevant to people of
all ages but especially adolescents and college students. People of this age range are in the
most significant changes of their lives, so it is extremely effective to conduct research on the
correlation of addictions/habits and depression/trauma/suicide. Our audience should find our
topic relevant to themselves because being humans we are all factors of psychology. Also, more
specifically we are all college students that are changing day by day. All of us are growing as
freshmen in college so while we ALL may not be dealing with depression, trauma, or suicide, it
is certainly a relevant topic among adolescents and college students in general. To the audience
that is not being affected by depression, trauma, or suicidal thoughts/actions, being aware of the
legitimacy of the subject can prevent these negative outcomes in the future.
Dylan will be focusing on the first part of the presentation, where he will cover addictions
and habits amongst adolescents and college students. Dylan will introduce the project to the
audience and provide a general idea of what the semester long term project is on and how it is
relevant to us. Anh will be focusing on part two of the presentation. He will focus on the
consequences of habits and addictions. The consequences are split into three parts, which is
suicide, depression and trauma. Anh will conclude the project and explain the overall purpose of
the project and what its purpose is. Throughout the presentation, not only will we be mainly
focusing on our subtopics, we will also provide our own personal feedback and opinions. We will
provide facts, statistics, images and interesting information to create an astounding project to
present.

-Using the class calendar, we have decided to create a schedule, in which we work on
the semester project every week. Depending on the part we decide to work on, we can either
meet or work independently. To make sure we can keep in touch at all times, we have decided
to do the presentation on Google Slides, so we can see each other's work and provide feedback
and aid each other in any aspect of the project.
Semester Long Multimodal Schedule (Based on Class Calendar)

Week 6: Work on proposal together to figure out all the different aspects of the project.

Week 7: Turn in proposal.

Week 8: During the break, we will be gathering general information, statistics, and data that
helps us understand our topic better.

Week 9: Focus more on the subtopics and gather specific ideas and information.

Week 10: Meet to discuss and share information that was collected.

Week 11: Put the information together into a document, so we can see transitions clearly.

Week 12: Meet and put the project together, to format and set up the project in a way, where it is
flexible and the transition, between the two parts smooth and professional .

Week 13: Finish the project. Include all data, graphs, images, design and informatics. Practice
in front of each other and make flashcards, to help us present and recall ideas.

Week 14: Review and make any last touches or fixes on the project before presenting to the
class.

Week 15 and 16: Present Projects.

Our presentation will end not on hard core facts or results in negative addictions/habits
causing depression, trauma, or suicidal thoughts/actions. Rather, it will end with psychological
reasoning on the strong correlation between these negative actions and unfortunate, but
preventable outcomes. The takeaway from our presentation will be for the audience to be
provided with information on how negative addictions and habits correlate with depression,

trauma, and suicide. In conclusion we hope to make them more aware of their daily
actions/habits and drive them away from these outcomes.
