Thanksgiving Feast

Thanksgiving
The day of Thanksgiving, my whole
family gets together at my aunts house.
On the T.V. we have college football on
such as the Clemson and Carolina game.
Usually the night before everything
begins we start to bake the deserts and
cook the hot foods in the crock pot. My
family and I love Thanksgiving because
we have the whole family together at
one time giving thanks for everything
that we have. We will play corn hole
outside and all the kids will get together
and play. When it gets dark outside we
have a bonfire and toast marsh mellows.
We also listen to our Christmas music
because we are ready for the Holidays.
After everyone has ate and some are
leaving my nana, aunt, and I go out and
go Black Friday shopping all night into
the morning.
Cooking
My nana, auntie, and mom all start to
cook the night before. She bakes the
pastries, pies, and cake to let them sit
overnight and be ready for when we
leave to go to my aunts house. Then
beginning in the morning my mom starts
to cook at 9:00 a.m. She starts to cook
the mash potatoes, macaroni and cheese,
vegetables, ham, turkey, deviled eggs,
bread, and so much more. It takes hours
to cook all of this food because we have
three of everything. While my mom and
I are cooking we are listening to music
and dancing around the kitchen. Every
year my mom burns something while
shes cooking. Its always the bread

because she puts it in while cooking the

veggies and mash potatoes, but then she
forgets about the bread and burns it.
This puts everything together on our
morning of Thanksgiving.
Seats
Now we have to seat our big family, and
we have to use about three tables: two
inside and one outside. My aunt has to
make sure the night before that all the
plates are cleaned and ready for our big
feast. We have all of our family come
together which means we need a lot of
seats. Usually where you sit thats where
youre going to eat, but when you get up
someone will take your spot. We have to
at least have 20 or more plates and silver
wear out. All of the adults will sit at the
big table in the dining room and the kids
will sit at the kitchen table or on the
outside porch. When we sit and start to
eat our food we have the T.V either
watching the football games or listening
to music. We all start to catch up on life
and talk to each other about how work,
school, and sports are going.
Time to Eat
Everyone will come into the kitchen in
an orderly fashion and get in line for all
the food. We begin to fill our plates and
get our drinks. As soon as we have
everyone seated and have their plates
full-of food, we will say grace. We
usually will start to put on the football
game and watch while we talk and eat.
When everyone is stuffing their faces
my uncle is always making us laugh. I

always have my plate filled with

everything and go back for seconds.
After We Eat
After we have eaten our seconds that
were so amazing and laughing so hard
that we had stomach aches, we began to
start cleaning up. We cleaned up our
normal food, but then we brought out
the desert. My aunt, nanny, and nana
made a variety of pies. When we are
eating our deserts it is usually the last
quarter of the football. We have the
family yelling at the T.V with
celebration or madness. After the
game is over and everyone is
calm, we start to say our
goodbyes and give thanks. I began to get
ready to go Black Friday shopping to get
ready for the Holidays. Thanksgiving is
truly one of the best Holidays that you
can be involved in with your family and
friends year round to give thanks.
Black Friday
After our thanksgiving feast, we start to
go shopping for Christmas. We are out
all night until at least 8 or 9 in the
morning. We have to be careful when we
are out because there are so many
people out shopping. Also during the
night we make stops to get coffee and
food. My nana and aunt have a list they
look off of to get stuff for Christmas Eve
for my siblings and cousins. We
sometimes will stop by my nanas house
at five thirty in the morning to drop off
gifts to have more room in the car.
