Constitution and By-Laws


1. Constitution
Article I: Name
The name of this organization shall be Woodside Plantation Men's Golf Association (MGA).
Article II: Purpose
This organization provides organized competition for men, camaraderie among its members and
the opportunity to meet, play and compete with players of all skill levels outside of your regular
playing groups.
Article III: Membership
Men members in good standing of Woodside Plantation Country Club shall become members of
this organization through the payment of annual dues and participation in the golf events of the
organization.
Article IV: MGA Committee and Committee Members
The officers of this committee shall be a President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and a Tournament
Chairman along with three at large committee members. This committee shall transact the
business of the MGA, make policy recommendations to the club members and set dates for the
various golf and social events.
Article V: Meetings
The Committee shall meet monthly unless otherwise designated by the president.
2. By-Laws
Article l: Members Rights and Privileges
Any member whose club and MGA dues are current shall be a member in good standing and may
participate in all MGA events. MGA members shall have priority for sign up for competitions.
Article II: Election of Committee Members
Section 1
Election of committee members shall be held annually by December 31. New committee
members take office on the first day of January the following year and will serve on the
committee for a period of three years. In order to maintain continuity of the committee, two
members will complete their term office on any one-year, by rotation, and three members will
complete their term the following year. The members of the MGA committee will appoint the
President.
Section 2:
At least one month prior to the election, the President shall appoint a Nominating Committee
consisting of a Chairman and two assistants. This committee shall prepare a ballot consisting of
one candidate for each open committee seat, provided the candidates nominated have agreed to
accept the nomination. MGA members are invited to propose candidates for office up to one
week prior to voting.
Section 3:
Voting shall be by ballot. The Pro Shop will count the ballots. In the event of a tie, the candidates
involved in the tie will be subject to a re-ballot.

Article III
Section 1
The President shall preside over all meetings; appoint standing committee chairmen and special
committees as deemed necessary. He shall serve as ex officio member of all committees.
Section 2:
The Secretary shall record the minutes of the MGA committee meetings and be responsible for all
correspondence pertaining to the MGA.
Section 3:
The Treasurer shall keep records of all funds of the Association and shall prepare tournament
P & L's to be posted at the conclusion of each event. He should also prepare and complete a yearend balance sheet for approval by the MGA committee.
Section 4:
The Tournament Chairman shall be responsible for planning and conducting all MGA golfing
events. He shall prepare a schedule of events for the season and present it to the MGA Committee
for approval. After approval the schedule will be distributed to all men WPCC members. The
Tournament Chairman and the Director of Golf shall agree on the roles and responsibilities of the
MGA and the Pro Shop. The Tournament Chairman may appoint assistants as deemed necessary
to fulfill his duties.
Article IV: Rules
All MGA events will be run according to the Rules of Golf and any local rules proposed by the
Director of Golf. If a player and his marker fail to reach an agreement during play, the player
should play two balls into the hole and a decision will be made by the Director of Golf at the
conclusion of play.
Article V: Handicaps
Handicaps for MGA events will be based the most current index published by the GHIN system
the day prior to the day of the event. This will allow the pro shop the times required to publish
scorecards, teams, flights, etc. Handicaps are subject to the review process in place under the
auspices of the Woodside Plantation Country Club Handicap Committee and as per USGA
guidelines. Team handicaps will be assigned by the Director of Golf under USGA
recommendations. The MGA committee reserves the right to adjust any handicap for player, if it
is deemed that the handicap is out of order.
Article VI: Dues
Dues for the year shall be set annually by December 31.
