Functions of Conjunctions, Prepositions, and Interjections

A WebQuest for 2nd Grade (Language Arts)

Introduction:
Georgia Performance Standard: ELAGSE5L1a. Explain the function of
conjunctions, prepositions, and interjections in general and their function in
particular sentences.
ISTE Standard for students:

Today you will be completing a WebQuest that will lead you through a Language
Arts unit that talks about parts of speech. You will complete a series of tasks. In
this WebQuest you will watch a School House Rock Videos about conjunctions,
interjections, and prepositions! You will then use online resources that I have
provided for you to test your knowledge and show me what you learned about
prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. There will be a lesson you will need
to complete before the game. Lastly, you will then be divided into groups of 4
where you will then create a poster with examples of conjunctions, prepositions,
and interjections that you learned in the videos and games you played.

The Task:

Students will:
Use their knowledge from the School House Rock videos to then complete a small
lesson and a game that follows at the end of each lesson. Students will then be
assigned and placed in groups of four. Next, the students will collaborate and come
together with their group to create a poster that explains the role of prepositions,
interjections, and conjunctions in sentences. Students will also include examples of
each part of speech on their group poster.

11. Create a poster explaining the role and functions of prepositions,
conjunctions, and interjections. List various examples.

Evaluation:
This project will be graded on completion of the tasks. Most of your grade for this
WebQuest will be dependent upon your group poster.

Conclusion:
Reflect on this WebQuest on prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. I hope
that each of you have a better understanding and that you made good use of your
time. I also hope that have a better understanding of prepositions, conjunctions,
and interjections. You should now be able to tell me the roles of each part of
speech: prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. You should be able to list
examples of each.
