UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:

Base Ten Bingo is a fun educational learning activity for children to practice counting by ones, tens,
hundreds, and thousands. First children select the desired place value and grid size. Next, add up the blocks on
the right and click the corresponding number on the left. Learn place value while playing bingo.
LESSON OBJECTIVE:
Learning how to count by ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands by playing BINGO.
The students will have fun, but also be learning at the same time.
STANDARDS ADDRESSED:

1. Count to 100 by ones and by tens.

2. Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin
at 1).

3. Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0
representing a count of no objects).

MATERIALS:
Pencil
Handout (provided by teacher)
Computer
Internet

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:

What are the key concepts for the lesson? Learning to count using different types of counting.
What is the critical academic language (general and technical) that must be addressed in this lesson? The
student must complete the game 3 times with 100% accuracy.
How does this lesson connect with and build on the previous lesson(s)? The Student will have to learn how to
count to 100 before they can do this lesson.
How do you expect to build on this lesson in subsequent lessons? I plan on adding more and more ways to
count to 100, using different numbers.
Why will you need to plan differentiated activities or assessments? Because one day the childs computers may
not be working, so you have to come up with another way to complete the lesson.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:

Introduction: What will you do to help the students become focused or motivated to learn in this teaching
segment? They will be motivated to do this lesson because its a fun game of BINGO. They will not even think
anything about them learning while also playing the game.
Procedures: Provide a sequential (step by step) description of the procedures and activities for the lesson.
-First you chose which number you want to count by.
-Then you choose which size you want your bingo card to be.
-You are then given a bunch of squares with numbers in them.
-On the side it gives you blocks to count by whichever number you chose.
-It does that until you get a bingo.

Closure: Everyone has to get a bingo 3 times in a row, before they can move on to the next lesson.
