Typical features common to Letters/Recounts ( are a type of narrative):

They are sequenced

They usually use the past tense.
They use many action verbs that describe what people do
They often contain dialogue, and so they also contain saying verbs that explain how
people speak: said, replied, shouted, roared.

PREP stands for Point, Reason, Example and Point again.
