ABSTRACT

Research areas that is located in South Sulawesi is part of Makassar Basin that
has an active tectonics. The complexity of the tectonic history of this region result in
the complicated structure. For this reason SRTM map interpretation and analysis of
the structure was conducted to determine the tectonic evolution that developed in the
research area.
In the study area there are 4 formations namely the Toraja Formation,
Formation Makale, Camba Formation and Formation Walanae are used as data for
classification and analysis of structures data. According to such data the fold
structures and reverse fault trending northwest - southeast formed at the end of the
Eocene epoch due to west trending compressional force that had change from
extensional force that occurred in the early Eocene. Then formed fold and reverse
fault trending southwest - northeast and cesarean-section flat on stage early Miocene
- Pliocene result of force compressional trending NW. Northwest force cause sinistral
faults Walanae which is the main fault in the study area. History structure model
created for explains how the development of structural patterns in the study area.
