In many cultures, lightning has been viewed as part of a deity or a deity in and of
itself. These include the Greek god Zeus, the Aztec god Tlaloc, the Mayan God K,
Slavic mythology's Perun, the Baltic Prkons/Perknas, Thor in Norse mythology,
Ukko in Finnish mythology, the Hindu god Indra, and the Shinto god Raijin.[107] In the
traditional religion of the African Bantu tribes, lightning is a sign of the ire of the
gods. Verses in the Jewish religion and in Islam also ascribe supernatural importance
to lightning. In Christianity, the Second Coming of Jesus is compared to lightning.
