Dear Dr. Bruce,
Entering this class, I had trouble putting my thought into words.
Throughout this course, I feel I have improved my writing abilities
through my documents, assignments, and writing technique lessons. In
regards to my improvement, I have compared my documents to the six
student learning outcomes (SLOs) that were provided in class. To show
evidence on my written communication skills, I have composed a
portfolio containing a revised proposal and a revision of my Writers
Notebook, Passive vs. Aggressive lesson.
I chose to include my revised proposal because my writing
proficiently covers most of the proposal. Going into writing this
proposal, I didnt even know what a proposal was. After creating and
organizing this document, I can assertively purpose knowledge when
writing a future proposal. As far as the student leaning outcome
objectives, the rhetorical focus is clearly identified to Ifixit Tech Writers
as I mention their name many times throughout the proposal (SLO 1).
In our introduction, our persuasion is identified; convincing Ifixit Tech
Writers to allow us to write repair guides on the Asus U52F-BBG6, as it
is stated in the introduction (SLO 3). By researching and gathering
common Asus laptop problems, I utilized the ethical citation, shown
under common problems, (SLO 2) to present accurate information to
my audience. I organized and formatted (SLO 4) my proposal using
headings such as Abstract & Introduction, bullet points, the reference
page, and bolding. Additionally, along with my organization, my
language and design (SLO 5) is also presented. Using full sentences,
and persuasion to convince the Ifixit Tech Writers to let us construct
replacement guides.
I chose my Writers Notebook, Passive vs. Aggressive lesson to
purposely express my learning outcome of rhetorical focus, language
and design, and finally collaboration (SLO 1,5,6). My rhetorical focus is
in-class as well as informal, and the audience would be Professor
Bruce, as well as my Team Bee classmates (SLO 1). The purpose of my

Writers Notebook is to show how I brainstorm and outline my writing

thoughts. Because my writers notebook was to show improvement &
to brainstorm on my writing style, I establish to define this under
collaboration. You can see my different writing styles are compared
using red ink as my writing improvement (SLO 6). As for my language
and design, I am using full, unbiased sentences. The tone of my writing
is unchanging and relaxed (SLO 5).
I believe this class radically enhanced the quality of my writing
by exposing me to different writing techniques, guiding me to
condense my words. Through practice and review, I believe my writing
skills were used to the best of my knowledge. I anticipate that my
collection of documents sufficiently presents my advancement and
progress of the six student learning outcomes.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Baldwin
