My Personal Opinions

My personal views on the legalizations would be a yes. I do support the legalization of

Marijuana. I feel the legalization does help our community by keeping the drug off the streets.
Legalizing the drug does make it safer than getting it from the black market where it could be
laced with other drugs that could make you hallucinate. When you buy from a dispensary youll
know what you are buy for your money. It also helps with making the drug more controlled at in
my opinion that good so it helps it from getting into childrens hands. I mostly support it on the
medical side. This is a product something that we in a society could use for good. It serves as a
medical product when people with arthritis, PTSD, and some types of cancer,e ect. Marijuana is
can be used as a calming drug. This mean that when you use the substance it will make you
calm and less worried about what's going on in their body. Other reasons why I support the
medical Marijuana is because it gives the people who are underage to who actually need the
product. I think Marijuana is a better and safer options than prescription drugs. Were compared
to prescriptions drugs that can lead to overdosing. In the Marijuana industries there are some
flows that I think the government should work on fixing. I think the government should make it
where the banks can do business the businesses that are in the industries because as of right
now the money that comes out of the industry is labeled drug money. With dispensaries not
able to put their money in banks it allows them to be a sitting duck and they have no choice but
to keep their money in the store and can be easily robbed. Also not being in a bank makes them
be a cash only company. Even with the medical card their are some flows some would be how
easy it is to get one. You can get one for have a pain that you can easily go away. Also having a
med-card allows you to buy the same product and same amount of the product for a lower price.
You can buy around two ounces for a cheaper price but the thing is if you have a medical card
do you need to smoke two ounces. I so far still support the legalization but im open to change
as of right now or in the future when they test the product to see if their are more pros and cons
with the product.

For the Legalization of Marijuana

Growing up in a society that has legalized the use of Recreational Marijuana I have seen the
good and bad results from the use of the product. As a young kid I would never think I see so
much Marijuana use in the town I live in and have grown up. Do you think the U.S should
legalize the use of Marijuana? The United States should legalize the use of Marijuana because
the benefits out way the determinants.
I think the med-card is a useful thing to have. You can have a medical card at any age its just
minors require a parent sign off. Some kids need to use the product to benefit the effects of their
illness and they benefit from a medical card. Minor or just anyone that need a medical card

should only be able to get it if they have a sincere requirement or need. There are two strains of
Marijuana THC which gets you high and CBD which doesnt get you high. The medical
Marijuana strain would be CBD it is a type of marijuana that does not affect mind alternating
behavior but it can be used for reducing pain and inflammation, controlling epileptic seizures,
and possibly even treating mental illness and addictions. (National Institute on Drug Abuse )
This strand is preferred more by doctors than THC strand because it doesn't affect the brain.
CBD does not get you high so you dont have the after effect of THC such as memory loss and
damaging of brain cells. CBD in my opinion is a better choice medically to use and develop.
The medical/recreational product of Marijuana has enhanced effects and one of them
happened to be helping to stop the spread of cancer or even cancer itself before you are
diagnosed with the disease. Med Health Daily said this Cancer is known to spread in ones
body by duplicating the gene Id-1. Smoking weed has proven to be helpful in stopping this
process altogether and prevents the cancer from spreading throughout the body. Some
researchers have found that Cannabis contains compounds that can completely kill off all the
cancer cells in your body.(Med health Daily) The CD receptors are found all over body in your
major organs like lungs, heart, kidneys but are a mostly found in the brain. The CD receptors
can act like a target to the cannabinoids once they combine together they can tell the cancer
cell to die. By detecting the cells early CD can help prevent cancer.
Jobs are a big win for the Marijuana industry. A recent report by the Marijuana Industry Group
indicates that since January, the States newfound recreational pot trade has created upwards of
10,000 new jobs.(Natural Society) this is a great sign for the community it gives people that
were on the streets a chance to have a job. Another thing that is great about Dispensaries it is
always locally owed or at least Colorado owned. So no matter who you buy from it is still
supporting your state. Even though it is becoming legalized through the United states it still can
not cross the state lines into other states which makes it more controlled. Marijuana has
Developed opportunities in Colorado with jobs and opportunities locally.
Taxes are up! The Marijuana industry has created tax benefits by the legalization of the product.
Revenue from retail cannabis sales amounted to at least $40.9 million by October 2014, with
an allotted $2.5 million to increase the number of health professionals in Colorado public
schools.(Leafly.com) One of the deals for legalizing the substance was that all of the taxes go
to the public school system of colorado. Total tax revenue for the 2015 calendar year came out
to just over $135 million, with nearly a quarter of that, or $35 million, reserved specifically for
school construction.(MARIJUANA POLITICS) This is amazing for schools all over colorado and
money that is reserved for schools are already being used for new roofs, new security systems.
USA Today reported in Pueblo that the school is using to attend money for college scholarships
for students that can't afford the chance to go to a collage of their choice. This is a stepping
stone in our country where something perceived as bad and opportunism and illegal turned
around and is made it possibility of improvement.
Legalizing the product has decriminalized it and make it safer and easy to control to distribute
track the use product. Many advocates for legalization note that by decriminalizing the

substance, police officers will have more time and money to pursue criminals for other crimes,
including those involving violence. They also argue it would create wiggle room in the criminal
justice system, allowing prosecutors and judges to focus on violent crimes while freeing space
in crowded prisons.(Drugrehab) This offers a better and safe way to handle something that was
once illegal and now is. It will also help the police focus on more important issues that are life
threatening and dangerous to the human race. Legalizing Marijuana will save the government
around 8.7 billion a year. By not having to worry about it as much and label it a controlled
substance.
Should the U.S legalize the use of Marijuana? I think they should the possible benefits
outweigh the determinants. People who are against the product dont know what it can do or
why it could be good for society. Keeping the product away can create more problems on the
streets. Legalizing Marijuana and studying its effects could educate and more benefits might be
developed.

Argument Against the Legalization of Marijuana

The war on the use of Marijuana has been a war fought with generations and is now coming to
an end it seems like. Should it come to an end? NO! If we let this drug it will create more of a
hazard to our children of America. It will create more of a problem for the county with a bunch of
intelligent people walking on the streets. Do you think the U.S should legalize the use of
Marijuana? The united states should most definitely not legalize the use of Marijuana because
it's a drug that will lead to the destruction of the American society.

If legalized the drug will end up in the children's hands it will make them more lazy and more
disrespectful. So parents if you want you kids to stay with them and keep playing those card
games then make sure they don't try marijuana. Also if your kid tries Marijuana it can lead to
greater and different drugs that can be more dangerous. A pros and cons list published by NYLN
a youth leaders blog posted this A group of teenage boys who abused weed, along with alcohol
and cigarettes, were found to be 2-3 times more likely to abuse prescription drugs when they
become young adults. (NYLN.org) Prescription drugs are something that we use in society so
we dont have to risk a drug that can lead to our children getting hurt and lead to something that
will lead to abusing the medicine that we have out their to help us get better. So why legalize
something something that can ruin the product that we already have legalized for good.
Using the substance can impair your memory several studies suggest that pot smoking may
affect your cognitive function in a negative way. The effect on short-term memory is quite
noticeable, but marijuana affects long-term memory as well. Besides, some studies suggest that
marijuana use decreases IQ level. (New Health Advisor) The studies have shown that this
affects you when you brian stops growing before the age of 25. People who are below the age of
25 are way more affected by this because their brain is still growing. While your brain is still
growing it is still forming and when you add the use of Marijuana it rewires it and makes it grow
differently the brain should be forming. Also when you are older i will affect you. When you brain
it done growing its done and with marijuana it makes it harder to retain information. This could
affect your work ethic and how you're able to your work functionally and safely.
Car accident under the influence of marijuana has gone up. In an article by CNN they said this
Fatal crashes involving drivers who recently used marijuana more than doubled in 2014. Pot
was involved in 17% of fatal crashes in Washington in 2014, up from 8% in 2013. (CNN Money)
this means more people will be on the road high. Being high slows down your reaction time and
makes you see and hear things you wouldnt. Marijuana may not be as dangerous but legalizing
the drug will allow more drivers to be high while driving and endangering the people on the road.
Their is still not enough research about marijuana to make enough actuations why it shouldn't be
legalized. But with the risk of high drivers and kids getting high I think those two risks out number
all the other reasons. So again should she U.S. government legalize the use of marijuana no but
maybe more for the medial purposes because as we start to do more research on the substance
we will learn more about it and more about what it can do.

Project Reflection
Jason Clark

Looking at both sides and getting an opportunity to be able to go out into the
community and see both perspectives equally. My opinions have not shifted in fact it
help me more identify why it should be legalized medically. I think Marijuana should
still be legalized medically but not federally. If it was to become legalized federally it
would be able to be used by big companies and that would make the locally owned

dispensaries go out of business. This would happen because it would allow hospitals
to be in charge of the drug then an independent company. Then their would be
Marijuana in pharmacies like walgreens with would have control of the product and
make it a little harder to get and the states would have less control with the
product. There are some pros to it being legalized federally is that the banks can
handle with the money and that makes the business safer and more easier to
handle with.

My own values have been more understandable because with the legalization
because they have been medically and after doing this project I grow a more
learning base with the legalization and why I support it being medically. Even
though Marijuana is a new product for being tested I think the more we test the
more benefits that will and can come out of the product. Marijuana is one of those
thing that should be played with but I think the harm that people think is right now
is way lower than the harm of the other drugs that are legalized and that can lead
to more deaths and addictions.

I understand more about my values about the topic I choose for example how it's
easier for children to get their hands on the drug. The people that dont support it
dont like how it under the category drug. Some of those people dont look at the
other side of the product. They see it has a gateway drug that can lead to other
drugs that could kill you. I get where they are coming they could have people that
do abuse alcohol and or prescription drugs. Also other arguments that have come
up was that IQ Marijuana lowers your IQ and make you less able to retain
informations so it makes it harder to learn when you get older. That schools dont
get their money from the the taxes and all of that is going towards health care and
helping people getting health care in colorado. Legalizing the product has

I have learned that democracy is about finding a way to finding compromise in each
party. We need to come together as a nation and become one again united as one.
Also I learned about that people who are in a democracy they are really stubborn.
Democracy is a good thing and a bad thing it can teach the world about how
everyone can come together in what we believe in, and want in a country. But can
also show how separated we are I can relate that to the election we just had with all
the protest. Democracy is a good thing but also a bad thing. We have learned an
equal amount of both to make our own decision and what the United States

represents as democracy is the freedom for our opinions and where everyone of all
raice and equality is welcome. We are the country of opportunity where we give the
American people what they want and if they want Marijuana they that is something
that the government need to incorporate in their policies.
My political views have not changed that have stayed the same. But as a young
person in America I will be open to change and new opportunity and i'm willing to
look at the other side to see what I agree with and dont agree with even if it mean
being disturbed.
