Collect samples of different types of fabrics. You could check with a tailor if he /she can give you pieces of left over dress
materials. Paste the samples in the scrapbook and classify them as natural and artificial fiber. Also write how these
fabrics are prepared and uses of them. Prepare a lecture on fibres.
Week 2
Comprehend and learn the reactions of the following elements:
Iron, Sodium, Copper, Magnesium, Zinc
1. With oxygen
2. With water
3. With dilute acids.
4. With alkali solutions.

Week 3
Give an account of the products obtained during refining of petroleum or crude oil. Classify them according to
1. Temperature of refining
2. Uses in daily life
3. No. of carbon atoms present
4. Boiling point.
Week 4
Prepare a report on alternative sources of energy (e.g., Solar energy, Nuclear energy, tidal power, wind energy).
Highlight the effectiveness of using these sources as eco-friendly means.
Week 5
Make a list of at least ten objects made up of different metals or non metals. Classify them according to:
1. Physical State
2. Malleability and ductility
3. Luster
4. Conductivity of heat (Thermal conductivity)
5. Hardness
6. Electrical conductivity
7. Sonority
8. Tensile strength.
Week 6
Revise the topics prepared so far thoroughly and prepare for a surprise test that will follow the vacations.
