Leaky Gut Syndrome
- This is a condition that traditional medicine does not really recognize as legitimate. The
underlying premise is that the “pores” in the lining of the small bowel become damaged and
, begin to allow large particles of partially digested food to enter the blood. When this happens
t your body begins to make antibodies against these “foreign” particles. This is the basis for food
! allergies and some of the auto-immune diseases that we experience.
For example, casein is the protein in milk. It is a large protein molecule. To get nutritional value
from this protein it has to be broken down into Amino Acids. When you drink the milk and it
goes into the stomach. The Hydrochloric Acid in your stomach converts pepsinogen to pepsin
and this enzyme (pepsin) begins to break down the casein into polypeptides. The polypeptides
are moved into the duodenum (first portion of the small intestine). There enzymes from the
pancreas (protease) break down the polypeptides into peptides and finally into amino acids.
If the polypeptides or the peptides get absorbed into the blood,
antibodies begin to form because these are not supposed to be there.
Nasal congestion, post nasal drainage, headaches, Fibromyalgia, joint
pain, irritable bowel, reflux, irritable bladder and many more symptoms
can develop.
The most common cause of Leaky Gut Syndrome is an over growth of
yeast in the intestines. Reduce sugars and starches, take Probiotics, avoid
antibiotics, avoid chlorine, avoid steroids, cortisone, and hormones,
and use a bowel cleanse at least once per year. Then the lining of the
bowel can return to normal, removing all the symptoms of the Leaky Gut
Syndrome.
