significant impact to our economy and is key for opening new opportunities to the community.
The financial system provides a huge number of services to the community obtaining loans to
open new businesses and provide economic growth. This issue is being addressed through two
genres that communicate finances contribution worldwide. Matthew Lesko author of the
scholarly monograph, The Investor Information Sourcebook, explains the concepts of investment

American Growth Has Slow down Get Used to it, by Robert Gordon this specific genre is a
source that presents information on how America has slow down during the years and some of
the consequences. The Investor Information Sourcebook is a scholarly monograph that provides
knowledge to deliver to scholars, and is preferable genre to learn about Finance. The views of the
genres will be discuss further throughout the analysis, to have a better understanding of the
financial system.

The physical limitations of both of the genres is one is a book and the other a digital
source. The Investor Information Sourcebook, is a scholarly monograph that was published in
1988, and has more information than the digital source, because it cant be modified. American
Growth Has Slow down Get Used to it, is a digital source published in 2016, and has recent
information that can be develop by public individuals. People need electricity and internet to be
capable of reading a digital source. Digital sources have the disadvantages of being modify by
individuals, because they are online and people have the ability to modified articles online. A

book comes in a different concept and have many chapters to read a digital source provides
information in an article or sometimes in a video. Similarities between both genres is they

are highly interested in learning financial information.
Audience and purpose
The first genre, The Investor Information Sourcebook, by Lesko is a scholarly monograph
about finance. The purpose of this particular book is to inform individuals to make good choices
when investing their money. The second genre, American Growth Has Slowed Down, is a digital
source that informs about the lack of growth of the economy how it has changed over the years.
The economic revolution of 1870 and 1970 was unique to human history know we relied on
technology (p.1). This specific quote represents the changes that we have encounter during the
years. Technology has revolutionize the world and it is all part of making business and opening
opportunities to society.
The intended audience for the scholarly monograph are business graduates, engineers,
doctors, anyone with a bachelors degree that is interested in opening a business or investing in
the stock market. Knowing the type of people that will make the audience for the first genre, one
can infer they are educated individuals that have a college degree and want to invest their money
in new opportunities. Young individuals between 23-30 years old who are looking for
opportunities and want to join organizations that teach you about business. For example Lesko
(1988) states, The scholarly monograph is for investor, an armchair economist, or business

executive who wants to learn business concept (p.29). Individuals who are entrepreneurs that
have great ideas, but need a little guidance and advice.
For the digital source the intended audience will be people who are finance professors,
business owners, and economists. Older people who are professors at universities, and economist
are interested in reading articles to know what is happening around the world. Individuals who
have own business and want to know what is happening to the economy and if it can affect their
business. The article gives specific detail on some of the problems the American economy has
been through. For example, the economy is not what it used to be and its slowing towards the
years. According to Gordon (2016), By 1970s, the economy has change a lot theirs been a
higher performance of new inventions that have change the way people live (p.1). We are
utilizing machineries in agriculture, factories, manufacture, in many businesses that are great for
the community. American Growth has Slowed down is an article for educators who are concern
about the economy.
Both genres differ in presenting the information to the audience. The Investors
Information Sourcebook is getting the attention of a different audience who have or dont have
an education and want to get advice about business. The second source inform economist and
finance scholars who are interested in learning about economic growth. The genres have
similarities they introduce important information that is a key to the world. Society needs to

opportunities in our country.
Rhetorical Issues
Ethos

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION

Throughout the scholarly monograph and digital source, both genres uses many strong
sources that strengthen their credibility and appeal to ethos. In the first genre, Lesko informs
educators about companies around the world that have become successful over the years. The
article provides techniques to established and utilize when opening a business. It teaches
individuals what to expect of a business and solve common problems. It presents its credibility
by establishing information of many agencies, institutions and organizations that have perform
business activities and are successful in the United States. In the second genre, it establishes
some of the reasons why the economy has change over the years and how we can solve some
issues. The credibility is presented to the audience by the research that has been done during the
years in the America economy how new technology is being introduce. Technology has improve
our economy, but in reality its increasing at a lower rate than before.
Pathos
Both genres exhibit pathos throughout the reading, pathos is implemented different in
each genre that evokes sadness. The Investors Information Source book, presents pathos in many
interested method in the entire book. It inform readers of the difficulties of establishing a
business and the amount of capital needed to make it successful. He present this by companies
who have failed in business activities. He creates emotion to the readers who wants to follow this
path but can eventually failed in the future. People sacrifice their lives by spending money and
time. They fail to open a business, because its not easy to find a great idea that people will love.
In the second genre the author introduces pathos by explaining the sadness of how the economy
has changed. He introduces a sentence about the importance of innovations before the 1970s, and
how the advances of this decades have mostly come in major sphere of human activity (p. 1). In

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION

my opinion this is pathos, because he expresses the disappointment of recent activities involving
entertainment, communication and information that dont help the economy increase.
Logos
Logos is introduce in both genres by implementing persuasion throughout the reading for
their claims to be effective. The first genre is using logos by presenting evidence through the
concepts of investment. Lesko utilizes logos by, introducing newspapers and magazines for
tracking news and trends and for managing money (p.22). Newspapers and magazines informs
scholars whats happening in the business world. He also states the requirements to open
business in the United States of America. The genre has a specific section with a huge number of
companies that are successful in America and evidence that support his claim. In the second
genre, logos, is introduced when the author states real gross domestic product roared along from
1947 to 1974, growing an average of 3.8% per year, and slowed slightly in 2004 (p.1). He states
evidence of the major periods when the economy was growing and when it slowed down. In the
entire article he introduces plenty of evidence to support his claim.
Conclusion
The Investors Information Source book and American Growth has Slowed Down are
sources that efficiently introduce their claim to the audience. The claim is effectively
communicated through the genres by providing the necessary information that helps individuals
know about investment and economics. The best genre of conveying the message to the audience
is The Investors Information Sourcebook, because it explains the advantages and disadvantages
