Final Four 1

Brooke Good - Messiah College Field Hockey Coach

The 2016 season marks Brooke Goods fifth season as head coach of Messiah
field hockey. She assumed the position in December of 2011, replacing her
mentor--and former coach-- Jan Trapp.
In her five season seasons Good has kept the Falcons among the top
programs in all of NCAA Division III. Shes led them to MAC Commonwealth
Championships in each campaign, making it 10-straight seasons overall that the
Falcons have won the conference title. Additionally, Messiah has now qualified
for the NCAA Tournament in 16-straight seasons, and 30 seasons overall since
joining the NCAA in 1981. This year theyre playing in the Final Four for the 15th
time in program history.
Through the 2016 NCAA Third Round the Falcons have played to a 83-24 record
under Good, and they have won at least 15 games in each campaign.
In addition to her role as field hockey coach Good serves as Assistant Athletics
Director, Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), and Title IX Deputy for the Falcons.
She assumed each of these roles in the Summer of 2016, ending a long-time run
as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.
Prior to being named head coach, Good served for nine years as an assistant
coach with the field hockey program. Over that stretch of time, the Falcons
qualified for nine NCAA Championship Tournaments, advanced to six Final
Fours, and finished as the National Runner-Up four times. As an assistant,
her main responsibilities included leading the teams defensive strategy while
improving each players defensive capabilities.
Good is a 2003 Messiah College graduate who earned numerous field hockey
honors as a centerback and center midfielder during her four-year field hockey
career at Messiah. She was named All-Commonwealth three times from 2000 to
2002. Good also made the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team as a senior in
2002, and was a Second Team NCAA All-American.
Also during her time with the Falcons, Good was a standout softball player. As a
catcher and utility player Good was again a three-time All-Commonwealth player
(2001, 2002, 2003) and an All-Region performer in 2003.
After graduating from Messiah College, Good went on to Millersville University where she obtained her M.Ed. in Sport Management
in 2006. While completing her degree, she also worked as an instructor for the U.S. Field Hockey Futures program.

JAN TRAPP - COACHEE

For close to 40 years the name Jan Trapp was synonomous with NCAA Division
III Field Hockey. The former Messiah College head coach started in Grantham,
Pa. in 1972 when she was hired as a part-time physical education instructor and
assistant field hockey coach, and she took over the program in 1973. Thirtynine years later Trapp retired as the all-time winningest coach in Division III field
hockey, with a cumulative record of 535-179-28 (.740).
Affectionately referred to as Coachee by generations of players, Trapp coached
a total of 742 games which, at the time of her retirement, was the most all-time of
any NCAA Divion I, II, or III field hockey coach. She was six-time NCAA Regional
Coach of the Year and nine-time Middle Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year,
and she led the Falcons into 25 NCAA Tournaments. Her teams won 14 Regional
Championships and finished as the National Runner-Up eight times. Additionally,
Messiah won 18 Conference Championships with Trapp at the helm.
In 2002, Trapp was inducted into the West Shore Chapter of the Pennsylvania
Sports Hall of Fame; in 2007, she was inducted into the National Field Hockey
Coachs Association Hall of Fame; in 2012, Trapp was inducted into the Messiah
College Athletics Hall of Honor; and in also in 2012, she was inducted into the

Messiah field hockey began receiving All-Conference honors in 1984. The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) was split into two
divisions (Northern, Southern), with each division split into two leagues (West, East). Messiah competed within the Northern Division,
Northwest League. In 1993, the MAC split into just two divisions: the Commonwealth and the Freedom. Messiah has since competed
within the Commonwealth Conference, which was renamed MAC Commonwealth in 2015.
Note: Positions were not always assigned for All-Conference honorees, with position names also changing over the years. The
positions listed are accurate against conference records. Also, the records from 1988 and 1990 are yet to be confirmed.
