TRANSCRIPT: (405 words) Recording- 2m 12s
As a teacher in the digital age, I will need a range of skills and
dispositions, in order to positively impact student learning and
development. The 21st century, continues to require teachers with sound
pedagogy, who are lifelong learners, ethical and compassionate. However,
as stated by the Digital Education Advisory Group [DEAG], (2012) there
are new abilities, unique to the digital age that all teachers need to
possess and be able to teach their students.

characteristics, such as: Technology, Globalization and Innovation, have
produced rapid changes to the world we live in. With such prompt access
to information, critical thinking skills are vital, as they support learners to
develop digital fluency and succeed in our fast paced world. As a teacher,
I can utilise digital fluency skills to access technology in creative ways and
be inclusive of diverse learners needs.

information, solution, collaboration and creativity fluencies, will allow me
to interpret and analyse information, problem solve and work
independently, creatively and cooperatively, in virtual and real-world
situations, (Global Digital Citizen Foundation, 2014). To impart these skills
onto my students, I will need to employ and teach the 4Cs of the digital
age.
According to Ewing, R., Lowrie, T. & Higgs, J. (2010) critical thinking,
creativity, collaboration and communication are the 4Cs vital to learners
in the 21st century. For me critical thinking is of particular importance,
because it supports progressive thinking and transcends subject matter,
(Critical Thinking Organisation, n.d.). The Critical Thinking Organisation,
(n.d.) argues that critical thinkers are better communicators, process
