Acquiring a set of knowledge on the European cultural paradigm, especially the

one of Western Europe
Forming a large cultural aperture, focused on the essential morphologies of the
European culture
Identifying the evolution and the dialectics of styles and typologies of the
Western cultures
Understanding the European cultures and civilizations in synchronic and
diachronic manners
Consolidating the theoretical and conceptual acquisitions in order to enhance
the capacity of critical valuation of the cultural phenomenon
Developing the analytical and interpretation vector in view of an inter and transdisciplinary approach (cultural, historic and sociological)
Integration of the Romanian culture in the European cultural matrix

SKILLS:

Capacity to analyse and interpret the cultural phenomena crystalized in the Western
cultural horizon
Using a set of notions and concepts that is appropriate for the investigated area
Developing a critical and analytical discourse that will accurately correlate different art
and cultural areas (literature, music etc)

7. Objectives of the subject (as per the acquired specific competencies)

7.1 General objective of Knowing the essential principles and theoretical paradigms referring to the cultural and
the subject
linguistic contact phenomenon and considering conflict as a form of its manifestation.

7.2 Specific objective

Knowing and understanding the fundamental concepts: cultural matrix, stylistic horizon,
cultural transmissions, morphology of culture, artistic periods and currents, cultural
syncretism and multiculturalism
Knowing the main methods of researching the investigated spaces and cultural periods
Establishing correlations between different perspectives of analysis in order to obtain an
inter-disciplinary and pluri-disciplinary set of tools to be used in interpreting situations
of contact and linguistic and cultural conflict
Identifying and explaining the linguistic and cultural conflicts and contacts in the
European space, in a diachronic and synchronic manner
