RASHTRIYA MADHYAMIK SHIKSHA ABHIYAN (RMSA)

PUDUKKOTTAI
Project
Alternative Schooling for X Failed Students
1. Rationale
Education is the beacon of growth and progress of a nation. The
Government of India has put forward initiatives for achieving the goal
of cent percent literacy by launching various schemes and even by
making constitutional amendments. It has also introduced the Right to
Education Bill 2005, to ensure compulsory and quality education to all
the children. Even though elementary education is the foundation on
which development of every individual and nation lies as a whole
hinges, universalizing elementary education has become a
constitutional mandate as it is absolutely essential to push this vision
forward to move towards universalizing secondary education which has
already been achieved in large number of developed nations and
several developing countries. Therefore, education beyond the
elementary level is paramount. The vision of RMSA is to make
standard, quality education, available, accessible and affordable to all
the children in the age group 14-18. Secondary education is a crucial
stage in the education hierarchy as it prepares the children for their
life.
Elementary education has greatly been augmented after the
launch of the SSA Mission, which in turn has made everyone realize the
need of augmenting secondary education the result of which RMSA has
been implemented by the Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD).
Even though ample achievements have been attained in the field
of quality education after the implementation of RMSA in Tamilnadu,
there is still a demand of progress to be achieved in terms of quality as
well as quantity in Pudukkottai district. A detailed profile of Pudukkottai
is presented in the subsequent chapters, to bring out a comprehensive

understanding of the geographical, social and cultural aspects, which

will guide us to formulate fitting strategies to accomplish the goals of
RMSA.

8.Special Coaching classes Work Plan

Classes will conducted in separate class rooms of the block centre
HSS.
50 students per class should be allotted.
The class timings will be 10 AM to 4 PM with one hour Lunch
break.
There 5 equal periods for 5 subjects

The students can attend the classes of their respective subjects

failed.
Weekly tests will be conducted at every Friday or the day as their
own design.
Proper evaluation and Progress records should be maintained so
as to assure the students success.

9. Conclusion:
The regular education system for secondary education is dealing
unto public examination .It does not bother the students after the
public examination if they failed. But the Project like RMSA
covering the age group of 14 & 15 cannot leave the failure
students because it has a loyal responsibility for not only the
enrolment transition and completion. But also for the real
outcome i.e a basic schooling qualification for the last student in
terms of socio economic conditions. So this project namely
Alternative schooling for X failed students can be a considerable
one.
