INTRODUCTION

Background

State Polytechnic of Padang is one institution of higher education in West

Sumatera. Polytechnics graduates are expected to be individuals who are ready
and able to enter the work field with good competence in their field of study. In
order to achieve the objectives, State Polytechnic of Padang provides the students
to do Internship Program in some companies.
The internship Program is important because this program is one of the
requirements for students to be graduated from State Polytechnic of Padang. The
students are prepared to work in the work field professionally. Thus, after
completing the studies, the students do not feel awkward to enter the work field.
The internship program gives opportunity to the students to be member of a team
work in a company. It is expected the program can improve the students ability in
doing many jobs and they can know about the differences between the theory in
the campus and in the fact of field.
English Department is one of Department in State Polytechnic of Padang.
Besides learning English communication, the students also learn about translation
and broadcasting. In translation is a subject that learns how to be a good translator.
In the other hand, English for Broadcasting is a subject that learns how to be a
good broadcaster and good news reader. English for broadcasting is divided into
two parts. There are Radio broadcasting and TV broadcasting.

The writer is one of English department student who is more interested in

broadcasting. It is the reason why the writer chose Classy 103,4 FM radio
Padang as the place to do her internship. Classy 103, 4 FM radio Padang is the
private Radio Station in Padang, West Sumatera which is located on Gedung
Serba Guna PT Semen Padang (Komplek PT Semen Padang) Jalan Raya
Indarung, Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The writer did internship program
for three months from February 1st to April 29th, 2016.
There are a lot of knowledges and skills that the writer got during doing
the internship program. The writer did not only get opportunity to join with one
division but also she get many activities in other division. While performing the
program the writer was placed in news and program division.

Objectives
In general, there are some objectives to be achieved in internship
program. First objective is to fulfill one of requirements for the students to
graduate from State Polytechnic of Padang. Secondly is to give experience to the
students how the real world of work in the field. The third is give opportunity for
the students to apply the knowledge which is got from campus. The last, this
program can improve the students ability especially in broadcasting field because
they did some broadcasting activity directly.
The next objective is to create a good cooperation with a company to do
in internship program and create the graduation of English department will be able
to handle not only the management of radio broadcasting, but also the
management of how to handle tasks and responsibilities in a professional manner.

After that the program also can establish good cooperation with State
Polytechnic of Padang and hoped that students are able to assist and will bring
benefits to Classy 103.4 FM Radio Padang in running the activities of radio
broadcasting and some other divisions.
Benefits
There are three benefits that the writer got during did Internship. First,
she can improve her knowledge and broadcasting skill especially in Radio
broadcasting. Second, she can understand the steps on making news copy, quoting
the news from media online, recording the voice of announcer, and mixing the
voice with the backsound by using cool edit. The last one, it is to fulfill one of the
requirements to complete the writers study at English Department State
Polytechnics of Padang.
There are two benefits for English department. First, it can make a good
relation between Classy FM Radio Sumbar with English Department-State
Polytechnic of Padang. Second, it can be a good information for English
department because the department can know about the development of
broadcasting field.
Last is benefit for Classy FM Radio. The internship program students can
help its activities during the program, such us searching news from internet,
taking announcer vocal and others. Beside that the program give opportunity for
the station in recruiting the employee from English department graduated.
