This article discusses outdoor play and how it helps


children to become socially aware. The benefits of
outdoor playtime go beyond the typical need for
exercise and healthy bodies, but it also allows the brain
function to increase in areas where social skills are
being developed.
This article brings attention to brain development and
the necessity of outdoor exposure for students. Social
skills will help children to work more cooperatively
with one another which in turn can improve selfesteem and grades.
This articles relates to my study because it discusses the
importance of the outdoors and what it can do for young
minds.
Background-This study provides information pertaining to
brain function and development in young children. It will
help to build a case for outdoor play during my research.
Design-Finding this article has made me evaluate my plan
for the research that I am about to embark on.
Data Collection/Analysis Methodology-This article gives
new insight on perspectives pertaining to the importance of
outdoor play as well as learning in a natural environment.
Findings/Conclusions-I am hoping that my findings are
similar to this piece of literature because it will benefit the
students that I am working with.
Implications/Action Planning-During this project I had
planned on a lot of instructional activities but I may want to
allow the children to explore topics more openly during
physical, non-traditional lessons.
