WelcomeStatement

NutritionandFoodScienceisastudyfocusesontheimpactoffoodandnutritionand
theirimportanceinimprovinghealthandwellbeingamonglocalandglobalpopulations(George
MasonUniversity,2016).StudentsstudyingNutritionandFoodSciencearerequiredtohavea
skillfulabilitytodefineandaddressfoodandnutritionalissues,andtoincreasetheawarenessof
foodand nutritionrelatedissues amonglocal andglobal communities, furthermore, enhance
collaboration among individuals and organizations to improve nutrition and healthrelated
outcomes(GeorgeMasonUniversity,2016).
ThepurposeofthisportfolioistohelpstudentswhoarepreparingtostudyNutritionand
FoodSciencedisciplineacquirestipulationsandsuggestionsinacademicinformationresearch
andprofessionalwriting(GeorgeMasonUniversityCollege,2016).
This portfolio includes four Sections introducing and analyzing academic writing in
NutritionandFoodScience.SectionIisProfessorResearch;Isummarizepersonalexperience
aboutLisaR.Pawloski,theinterimchairofNutritionandFoodStudiesDepartmentinGeorge
MasonUniversity(GeorgeMasonUniversityCollege,2016).Thisanalysisiswiththepurpose
ofgivingageneralsummaryofprofessorsacademiccareerandexperienceinmydisciplineto
advisestudentsaboutacademicschedules,programplans, internships,andcareerguidance.In
SectionII,Ianalyzeaprofessionaljournal,namedJournaloftheAcademyofNutritionand
Dietetics,providespremiersourceforpeoplewhoareinterestedinpracticeandscienceoffood,
nutrition,anddietetics(JournaloftheAcademyofNutritionandDietetics,2016).Theaimof
this analysis is tohelpstudents know about writingfeatures inNutritionand FoodScience
discipline,andhopetoassiststudentsinimprovingprofessionallevelinacademicwriting.In

ordertohaveaclosereyeonformalwritingstyle,IanalyzethearticleTheSpreadofObesityin
Developing and Transitional Countries: A Focus on the Mekong Region, Southeast Asia,
writtenbyLisaR.PawloskietalinSectionIII(Pawloski,Thurman,Curtin,&Ruchiwit,2016).
Inthispart,Iamwillingtopresentdetailrequirement,suchasstructure,andarticlearrangement
throughacademicpaperwritinginNutritionandFoodsciencediscipline.Withthesamearticle,I
analyze language features in Section IV.The languageanalysis focuses onhelpingstudents
understandwritinghabitsandchoicesoflanguageandgrammarinmydiscipline(Pawloski,
Thurman,Curtin,&Ruchiwit,2016).
Finally,throughthisportfolio,Igetalotknowledgeaboutacademicinformationresearch
andwritingskillsinmydiscipline.Iwishtheseanalysisarticlesalsobeusefulforstudentswho
areinNutritionandFoodSciencediscipline.
