Objectives:

Content Summary:
Tourism is an important part of Jamaica's economy. Because of the island's warm climate and
year-round sunshine, its beaches and beautiful landscape, many thousands of people from all
over the world come here each year. A tourist is a person who visits other countries for leisure.
Tourism is a business of providing tourists with places to stay. There are a lot of tourist
attractions in Jamaica e.g. Sevilla Nueva etc. in Port Royal there are three main buildings namely
Museum, Giddy House and Fort Charles. Port Royal was struck by earthquake twice; the major
one in and the first earthquake was in 1692 and a massive fire in 1704.

ASSURE Model

ASSURE model is a procedural guide for planning and delivering instructions that integrates
technology and media into the teaching process. It also refers to a systematic approach of writing
lesson plans that helps teachers in organizing instructional procedures.
Analyze Learners

General Characteristics

This is a description of the class as a whole. There are 35 students in the class, Grade 4, ages 810, 2 Indian and 8 students from the low socio economic status.

State Objectives

After watching a virtual field trip about Port Royal, students should be able to;

Learning Styles

This lesson caters to the visual, tactile and audio learning styles.

Select Methods, Media, & Materials

Methods: The teacher will begin the lesson with a PowerPoint to explain the topic

Tourism and explain what is to be achieved by the learners.


Media and Material

Video, laptop, computers, projector.


Utilize Methods, Media, & Materials

Preview the Materials: The teacher should have fully covered and researched on the
topic before introducing it to the pupils. He/ she should be aware of the tourist attraction
that is going to be viewed by the students and also the video to ensure no lewd scenes or

words are included in video.


Prepare the Materials: The teacher should ensure that the projector and computer lab is

available for use. Ensure that the video is playing without errors.
Prepare the Environment: The teacher should check that the classroom/computer lab is
in order for adequate comfort and to ensure that it is proper for teaching and learning
process. This includes adequate lighting, proper ventilations, good sitting arrangements

and the classroom/computer lab should be swept.


Prepare the Learner: The lesson will begin with an introduction of tourism. Teacher
will prepare students to begin viewing the PowerPoint and videoto be able to achieve the
objectives.

Require Learner Participation

During the PowerPoint and video the teacher will pause and ask questions to get the
students involved in the lesson. The teacher will integrate technology as best as possible
to engage students fully in the lesson.

Evaluate student performance:

The lesson will close off with a brief explanation from the teacher. The teacher will ask
questions to see if the objectives were met and the method she/ he used was effective.
