Student Objectives:
1. Students will develop the understanding of why health and wellness is important.
2. To learn how and to maintain a healthy lifestyle everyday.
3. Students will learn the importance of confidence in their own body image.
4. Students will be able to perform basic fitness techniques and routines.

Psychomotor (P): Students will be able to perform each station correctly at an 80% success rate.
Cognitive (C): Students will be able to tell me why it is important to exercise and what can happen if you
dont get enough exercise in.
H-R Fitness (H): Students will be able to reach at least 70% MVPA in duration of the class, going towards
the recommended amount of physical activity a week.

Prior to class beginning, I will have each student write down what activities can promote fitness. This
can range from a stretch, a type of exercise class, or potentially a sport. Students will write these down
and turn it into me-in proposing ideas for next class.

I will have a giant pair of dice, where students will have a designated number to perform each stretch. One
student will roll the dice, while another student will pick a stretch out of the hat. Stretches include:
Jumping Jacks
Squats
Tip Toes
Toe Touches
Push Ups
Squat Jumps

Arm Circles (Back)
Students will then jog to the fence and back to return to their polyspots.

Today we will be talking and learning about Health and Fitness, and why it is important for anyone to be
active! Why might it be important that we stay fit?
Repeat after me: Health is being free from illness or injury. (3x)
Repeat after me: Fitness is being physically fit and healthy. (3x)
Now, I am going to split you up into four groups. Each group goes to a specific color cone. At each cone,
there is a different activity for you to do with your group. You have a specific set time for each cone, before
you rotate.

I will be asking at the end what you got out of each station, and why each station might be important in
order to stay active and healthy. Each station has a paper telling you what you will be doing, and why it is
important. Ready? Lets go!
Purpose:
Students will develop and apply their understanding for health and fitness and how it connects to their
everyday lives.
Start/Stop Signals: Hand up in the air to count down (this makes students put hands up and have
eyes on me by the time I count down to one).
Grouping Strategies: Random.

Lesson Core - Task 1: 16 Minutes: Health And Fitness Stations


Students are in small groups and are divided amongst four stations. Each station is labeled with an activity
pertaining to health and fitness, and each group lasts for a total of four minutes.
Station 1: Balance
Practicing balance builds muscle and increases range of motion in the joints.

Station 2: Bodyweight Fitness
Bodyweight exercises improve balance, flexibility, and strength without machinery or extra equipment.

Each cone within the station has a different exercise listed, as well as a picture. Students have to complete
20 reps of each one, and when everyone is finished, they rotate to the next cone.
