Case 1

Some 3-12m high trees are located in neighbouring residential allotments near the
north, west and south boundaries of the proposed construction site. The potential
drying effects over a radius of 0.75/1.0X the mature height of the tree or 1.0/1.5X
for a group or row of trees may occur. For this site, trees will potentially cause drying
of foundation soils through western portion of the proposed new double storey
addition.
(Comments: Tree effect should only be considered for the surface level
developments and can be ignored for basements)

Case 2

Two 6m high trees are located to north of the site on the nature strip and another 6m
high tree is located to the east of the site on the nature strip. A 5m high tree is
located to the north-west corner of the site in the adjoining property and some 4m
high trees are located to the south-west corner of the site in the adjoining property.
Trees can be assumed to exert a drying effect over a radius 0.75/1.0X the mature
height of the tree and 1.0/1.5X for a group or row of trees. Considering the shallow
depths to the bedrock, for this site, these trees are not expected to have significant
drying related effect on the proposed construction envelope.
(Comments: To explain scattered individual trees)

Case 3

Some 3-15m high trees are located around the property. Due to the relatively stable
deep sand profile, these trees are not expected to have any significant drying related
effect on the proposed construction envelope.

Case 4

Two 12m high trees are located at the front of the dwelling, offset approximately 13m from the proposed addition. Trees can be assumed to exert a drying effect over
a radius 0.75/1.0X the mature height of the tree and 1.0/1.5X for a group or row of
trees. For this site, these trees will potentially cause drying of foundation zone soils
through the entire proposed construction envelope.

Case 5

A 14-18m high tree is located on the east nature strip, offset approximately 3-5m
from the existing dwelling. Some 3-6m high trees are located at the front and rear of
the dwelling. Trees can be assumed to exert a drying effect over a radius 0.75/1.0X
the mature height of the tree and 1.0/1.5X for a group or row of trees. For this site
these trees will potentially cause drying of foundation zone soils through the entire
proposed construction envelope.

Case 6

Some 3-7m high trees are located to the north-west and south-east of the dwelling,
some of which may be removed. Trees can be assumed to exert a drying effect over
a radius 0.75/1.0X the mature height of the tree and 1.0/1.5X for a group or row of
trees. For this site these trees will potentially cause drying of foundation zone soils
through the north-western and south-eastern portions of the proposed ground floor
construction envelopes.

Case 7

Some 4-10m high trees are located around the property, some of which are offset
approximately 3-5m to the east and south-west of the proposed rear deck / alfresco
addition. Trees can be assumed to exert a drying effect over a radius 0.75/1.0X the
mature height of the tree and 1.0/1.5X for a group or row of trees. For this site
these trees will potentially cause drying of foundation zone soils through the eastern
and south-western portions of the proposed rear deck / alfresco addition construction
envelope.

Case 8

Three 9-10m high trees are located at the rear of the dwelling and will be removed.
A row of 5m high trees are located adjacent to the western property boundary, offset
approximately 1-2m from the proposed addition. Trees can be assumed to exert a
drying effect over a radius 0.75/1.0X the mature height of the tree and 1.0/1.5X for
a group or row of trees. For this site these trees will potentially cause drying of
foundation zone soils through the western portion of the proposed construction
envelope.
