Whats this Note?

Using the projector, show students the first note (quarter note)

Ask students to say what kind of note it is and then ask how many beats or counts it gets

Show the next note to the students (two eighth notes)

Ask students to say what kind of note it is and then ask how many beats or counts it gets

Show students the third note (half note)

Ask students to say what kind of note it is and then ask how many beats or counts it gets

After all notes are correctly identified, ask students to clap or tap each note as you point
to it
Teaching Rocky Mountain

Sing the first line of the song to students and gesture for them to repeat after you

Sing the second line once then have students repeat after you

Sing the third line then ask students to repeat after you

Sing the fourth line and then ask students to repeat

Go through the whole song with longer phrases and gesture for the students to repeat
after you

Ask students to play the correct rhythm of the refrain with the rhythm sticks while singing

Perform the whole song with instruments


Conclusion

Perform Rocky Mountain with backing cd and instruments
