The student survey was done in the middle of the second quarter during the school year.
The survey showed the 17 out of 18 students feel safe and welcome in class and one student said
that some what/sometimes. All 18 students stated that I their teacher was polite and respectful
towards them. In question three, 15 out of 18 students stated that their teacher helps them out
when they get stuck, two said that sometimes and 1 said that the teacher never helps out.
Question 14 addresses how much the teacher knows about the topic that she is teaching and 14
out of 18 students said that their teachers knows a lot, three said somewhat and one student said
no. In question 5 all students agree that the teacher explains things so they can understand them.
Overall the survey demonstrated that students feel safe and welcome in the classroom, and that
their teacher is polite towards them. The survey also demonstrated that the teacher explains
things in a manner they can understand it, yet a small minority expressed that sometimes the
teacher does not help them when they get stuck but the majority of the students agreed that they
do get help when they get stuck in an assignment.
Some steps that I can take as a teacher is to continue to provide a safe environment where
students feel welcomed and safe. Continue to be respectful of my students, and offer them a
brand new day to start over, every day so they feel comfortable to be in the classroom. As a
teacher I also have to be more vigilant of students that are shy and do not ask for help when they
get stuck. I need to encourage all students to feel comfortable to ask for help when they need it,
but specially those students who are shy or are less verbal than the common student.
