Enhancing Manufacturing Competitiveness: New Age Solutions Driving Change

Imperative Strategies for Addressing Short Term Concerns and Capitalizing Long Term Opportunities
Overview
The National Manufacturing Policy (NMP) of the 12th Five Year Plan and beyond accentuates the
impor tance of manufacturing as key to Indias global economic success. It has laid a robust framework
to increase the manufacturing sectors current contribution of about 16 percent to the national GDP
to 25 percent by 2025.
With concerted efforts by the industry, end users have gradually realized the advantages of automation
solutions in order to be competitive in todays global economy. However, mass scale adoption has
remained sluggish due to multiple factors, a key one being cost of ownership.
Frost & Sullivan believes that an ecosystem that will insulate the complete value chain from the effects
of shor t-term economic fluctuations has to be created. Creation of an ecosystem is critical towards
achieving the long term goal of 25 percent contribution from manufacturing sector by 2025.
Developing solutions For India, In India is as much the need of the hour, as is keeping pace with the
rapid advancements in global manufacturing techniques to increase Indias much needed manufacturing
expor t contribution.
