ECOSYSTEMS AT IFESCU
An ecosystem is a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving
components of their environment (things like air, water and mineral soil), interacting as a
system. These biotic and abiotic components are regarded as linked together through
nutrient cycles and energy flows.
In IFESCU we see

Water shade ecosystem

semi-natural forest ecosystem
pond ecosystem
hill-forest
grassland ecosystem

semi-natural forest
When we make a plantation , at initial stage all the plants and area are
same . But after a period of time if other plant
and animal species come there and difference
been cleared and get a natural looking , it is
called semi-natural forest.

ABIOTIC FACTOR
The most obvious abiotic feature of a semi-natural forest
ecosystem may not be obvious, despite its ubiquity and
importance: sunlight. Tangible abiotic factors include soil,
minerals, rocks and water. But intangible abiotic factors
are, temperature, other types of radiation, and the
chemistry of soil and water.

BIOTIC FACTOR

PRODUCER : Trees , Herbs , Shrubs , Ferns

etc.
PRIMARY CONSUMER : (Herbivores) Birds ,
Dear ,Rabits
SECONDARY CONSUMER : (carnivores)
Frogs, Snakes , etc.
DECOMPOSER : bacteria , worms, fungi etc

Pond ecosystem
ABIOTIC FACTOR
Abiotic factors are temperature, stratification, density, oxygen and
carbon dioxide levels, salinity, and calcium and nitrogen levels.
Even the length of the day and the climate are considered abiotic
factors of a pond. Other abiotic factors include the temperature of
the air, humidity, wind, barometric pressure and air pollution, the
pH of the water and its nutrient levels, and the type of soil in the
pond. Density is an important abiotic factor because it affects the
amount of light that passes through the water, and therefore what
type of plants and other biotic factors can survive at various
depths.

BIOTIC FACTOR
PRODUCER :
Phytoplankton , Zooplankton
PRIMARY CONSUMER : small fish ,
insects , caracol etc.
SECONDARY CONSUMER : Large
fish , Frogs etc.
TERTIARY CONSUMER: Egret,
Turtle , Snakes etc.
DECOMPOSER :Bacteria , Fungi
etc.

Grassland ecosystem
There is a small grassland ecosystem in the IFESCU play ground & beside the
administrative building .

ABIOTIC FACTOR
Climate( rainfall , temperature , wind flow etc ), Parent material & soil ,
Topography , Natural Disturbance etc.

BIOTIC FACTOR

Producers : grasses, sedged, rushes,

cyanobacteria. lichens, mosses, trees etc.

PRIMARY CONSUMER : rabbits, moles , hares,

phytophagous insects etc.
SECONDARY CONSUMER : snakes, preying
birds, insect feeders
DECOMPOSER : bacteria , fungi and other
microorganisms.

Water Shade Ecosystem

An artificial water shade ecosystem were made behind the IFESCU complex.

ABIOTIC FACTOR
Among the abiotic components that make up a water shade ecosystem are
the temperature, amount of precipitation, geology, soil, and even sunlight.
Water chemistry also plays a big role within an ecosystem -- acidity and
clarity are important abiotic characteristics of water shade ecosystem -- as
well as the amount of sodium, sulfates, phosphates and other compounds in
the water. Taken together, these abiotic factors determine what species can
live and thrive in a water shade ecosystem.

PRODUCER : Plants by the side of

water shade , phytoplankton, weeds
etc.
PRIMARY CONSUMER : small fish ,
insects , periphyton and benthic
macroinvertebrates
SECONDARY CONSUMER : Fish ,
Coracol , Birds , frogs
DECOMPOSER :Bacteria , Fungi etc.

Hill-Forest Ecosystem
There is a hill behind the Master Da Surjasen Hall , ladies block. After making
plantation there it turned into a semi natural forest and have made a hill
forest ecosystem.

ABIOTIC FACTOR
Temperature , precipitation ,soil pH , moisture content , sunlight , etc.

BIOTIC COMPONENT
Producer : plants , herbs , shrubs , ferns etc.
Primary consumer : (herbivores) birds , rabit ,deer, grasshopper ,sqirrels,
insects etc.
Secondary consumer : (carnivores) Frogs , Snakes , moorfowl etc.
Tertiary consumer : Fox , Hyena , Dogs etc.
Decomposer : Fungi , Bacteria and microorganisms .
