else brings up a topic.
Procedures:
Lesson Beginning
Introductory Review
o Yesterday you had the persuasive magazine ad art gallery for the
technologies you created. How did you like that activity?
Motivation/Focus
o Have students talk with someone near them about something they could
change if they would have to do another persuasive ad someday

Anticipatory Set/Advance Organizer

o Have students make a note in their journal about the things they could change
and what they think they did well on

Lesson Development
Instruction (presentation of content with student involvement)
o Have students form a circle
o Explain that were discussing how great technology has changed us
o Tell students youd like them to incorporate everything weve talked about the
past three weeks into this discussion
Practice and Feedback
o Go over guidelines for participating in the discussion
These are the same as the guidelines from the Socratic seminar
o Give each student a rubric to fill out for the student to their right
o Make sure all students understand the rubric
Student Involvement
o Ask the question again
From what weve learned during this unit, how has great technology
changed us?
o Begin with having everyone write down their answer
o Have someone say their answer this will start conversation
o Try to have the students keep the conversation going
o If that does not work, come up with questions that relate to what theyve been
discussing to get them back on track
Follow-up questions
Application questions
o Have a closing question
Tell us if youve changed your mind about how great technology has
changed us and why
Lesson Ending
Review and Closure
o Exit slip
Reflect on technology, what youve learned about it, and how you feel
now
o Dont forget to hand in your journals before you leave! I will be grading
them over the weekend.
Preview of Next Lesson
o We will be beginning a new unit next week, so no homework. Have a great
weekend!
Assessment: I will be asking questions during the lesson and checking students answers,
correcting them when needed. The discussion will be assed by the rubrics. I will fill out
my own rubric for the students and then take the peer rubrics into consideration when

giving the students grades. The students journals will be collected every week for a
completion grade.
Materials Needed: Journals, computers, projection screen, chalkboard/whiteboard,
chalk/dry erase markers, lesson plan, rubrics.

Special Adaptations: Do you need to make special adaptations for specific students?
How?
Anticipated Difficulties: Some students may not want to participate during the
discussion, resulting in bad grades. If I see anyone struggling, I will try to give them a
chance to speak or redirect the conversation.
Reflection: To be written after the lesson is used.
