PSR CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE

We talk about electronic 'spam' and even though we are in an

electronic world we still talk of 'junk mail' too. These things are a part
of life, but we live with them. Recently in the mail you received
something that was not junk mail; it was a letter from Bishop Kemme
with an envelope to to be used next weekend at our Christmas
Masses. It is called a Christmas Call to Sharing, I suppose because we
are asked to share over and above our regular giving to help the
diocese in the expenses of caring for our retired priests who have
cared for us in the past and educating the priests who will take care of
us in the future. Some may be thinking that we have stewardship and
that should be enough. For some reason this particular need was not
included in the list of things that stewardship would fund. For me it is
an opportunity for each one of us to remember the priests who have
served us. I remember the pastors that I have worked with and seeing
how they served you the people of God. I remember my seminary
days and wondering how the diocese could 'afford' to pay for my
education, then thinking of all who had contributed to help that
happen. I made it, even though I did not do well in church history
class. As the bishop mentions in his letter, we have ten men who
will hopefully be ordained. Pray for them;
pray for all of us in ministry that we continue
to serve faithfully and with holiness for you
who are looking to grow closer to God. I will
remember you in my prayers; I pray that we
continue to lead lives in accord with what
God has wished for each of us.

Merry Christmas.
