MRI Guard Agilia

QUICK START GUIDE

Use in Preparation Room

INFORMATION

Before starting to use MRI Guard Agilia, connect the power cord to
the mains power supply for approximately 15 hours without using
the device. Check power status indicator is lit in green.

WARNING

Use in MRI Scan Room

The MRI Guard Agilia is intended to be used at a maximum

magnetic field of 20 mT (= 200 Gauss).
The Agilia IV infusion pumps should be installed in or removed
from the MRI Guard Agilia outside the MRI Scan Room.

Re-adjusting settings on Agilia IV pumps

in the MRI Scan Room

The Magnet Indicator should remain in the

green zone:

INSTALLATION OF AGILIA INFUSION PUMPS:

1. Press the door lever to release the door, then pull the lever to fully
open the door of the housing.

1. Press the 2 handles downwards

to move the MRI Guard Agilia
carefully into the MRI Scan Room.
WARNING

1. Should the pumps need to be reprogrammed, open the door of the

MRI Guard Agilia while checking that the Magnet Indicator remains green.
2. Re-adjust pump setting.
3. Close the door.

Check the IV lines remain loose between the MRI Guard Agilia and
the patients IV access.

WARNING

2. Approach the MRI Guard Agilia carefully to the MR Scanner and observe the
Magnet Indicator until you reach the desired position in the MRI Scan Room:
Magnet Indicator should remain green.
When the Magnet Indicator flashes yellow, move back
the MRI Guard Agilia until the Magnet Indicator returns
to the green position.
The dangerous area for the pumps regarding the magnetic fiel
starts at 50 mT. Never position the MRI Guard Agilia closer than 1 m
to the MRI Scanner. The Agilia IV infusion pumps may be attracted
towards the MRI scanner when positioned at this distance.

2. Position the Agilia IV infusion pump in

front of the rack and slide it carefully
on the pump shelf slot.

3. Push the pump firmly so that the

locking mechanism secures the pump
(be sure to hear the 'CLICK'). Check on
the pump display that the power light is
ON and listen to the audio pump signal.

4. Place the IV Line through the corresponding outlet.

5. Turn the door towards the left and push it fully to close it.
Push the door lever to lock the door.

3. Position the MRI Guard Agilia so the front and the Cap User Interface (top)
remains visible at all times from the control room.
4. Once correctly positioned, release
the two handles and push the
brakes of the castors in order to
prevent any movement of the MRI
Guard Agilia.
5. If a wall plug is available, connect the power cable of the MRI Guard Agilia.
WARNING

If used on battery, ensure Agilia IV infusion pumps have

enough battery back-up to be able to operate for the
expected duration of the infusion.

6. Make sure the door of the MRI Guard Agilia is closed, then start the MR
examination.

WARNING

During installation, make sure that IV lines are not squeezed,

bent or cut when the Agilia IV pumps are in and the door is
closed.

6. When the system is ready to go into the MRI Scan Room,

disconnect the power cable.

WARNING

Do not squeeze the infusion lines by closing and locking the door.
The door of the MRI Guard Agilia has to be locked when the MRI
Scanner is imaging but can be opened between different scans
(when the MRI Scanner is not imaging).
In case of an emergency the door can be opened when MRI
Scanner is imaging, but this could lead to artefacts on the MR
Images (not to malfunctions of the pumps).
The pumps should not be removed from MRI Guard Agilia rack.

4
WARNING

Before closing the door, make sure the infusion lines are properly
placed in the outlets to avoid squeezing them and provoking
occlusions.

Removing Agilia IV pumps

from MRI Guard in Preparation Room
The Agilia IV infusion pumps should be installed or uninstalled
from the MRI Guard Agilia outside the MRI Scan Room.

1. Release the castor brakes, then move to the Preparation Room.

2. If patient is still connected, make sure there is no tension on IV lines.
3. Open the door.
4. Remove IV line (+ bag) from the outlet / inlet.
5. Hold the pump with one hand and
push the release mechanism lever
with the other hand.
6. Remove carefully the pump(s)
from the slot(s).
7. Close the door.
8. Reconnect the power cable to the AC.

WARNING

Do not apply force when uninstalling pump(s).

If force is required do not use the devices and please contact
Technical Services.
During removal, make sure that IV sets are not squeezed,
bent or cut.
To avoid confusion between Agilia IV pumps and associated
IV lines, we recommend that the IV line is removed before
another pump is released from the rack.
