Hadeeth Lesson

Provisions for the Seekers
extracted from the Messenger of
the Lord of the worlds
The book is taken from Mishkaat Al Masabeeh by Moulana Ashiq Ilahi

Mukadama - Introduction
All praise belongs to Allah, Who gave us respect among all other nations by
sending that being whom He chose from all of His creations with (that person
who can say a few words with great meanings) Jawamiul Kalim, spring (or gens)
of wisdom, sent His blessings on him, his children, his sahabah as long as the
tongue speaks His praises and pen writes.
This is a brief booklet and this has been chosen from the words of the Ash Shafi
(Intercessor), Al Aziz (One to Hounour), I selected all of these Ahadeeth from a
book which is illuminated and shining (beautiful), famously known Mishkaat AlMasabeeh and have named it ZadutTalibeen min Kalami Rasooli Rabb
IlAlameena .
The words of the book are very few, but their meanings are numerous and very
short.
The person who recites and memorises will be fresh and pure who reads and who
protects this book, and who teaches and listens to this book will be made happy.
I have ordered this book in two chapters in order that the benefit of this will
become common in both worlds.
I ask Allah, that He makes this collection in both worlds. I ask Allah, that He
makes this collection for His noble face (for His pleasure) and as a means for
entry of the abode of blessings.
He is very forgiving and He is great in giving bounties.

Hadith 1

.
The Prophet said. Verily actions only are according to their intentions, and a
person receives only what he has intended. Therefore, whoevers emigration is
for Allah and His Messenger, his emigration is (truly) for Allah and His Messenger.
And whoevers emigration is for and worldly gain or a woman he is to wed, then
his emigration is for what he emigrated. (Bukhari, Muslim)
Shane Nuzool
During emigration one sahabah migrated to Medina for the purpose of marriage
to a woman
Kalimatul Hasr

Exclusivity word which means Only

Difference in Amal and Fel
Amal is a voluntary action e.g. talking
Fel in involuntary action e.g. breathing
So Al Amaal is referring to voluntary actions
AnNiyyaat is referring to plural form, so Intentions
Imrin is man/person
Nawa He intended (verb)

Kanat was
Hijrat leaving your country, this is a big sacrifice so the intention has to be
correct.
Ila to, towards
Imratu woman
Dunya world, very near, something close to you other than Allah and His
Prophet
Yatazawajuha To marry
Lessons from Hadith
Any good action will only be accepted if the intention is correct. The hadith of the
Alim, Mujahid and Generous person are all people who will be thrown into the fire
of Hell first. They are not doing bad actions, but their intentions are incorrect.
We need to do Tasheeh Niyyat (correction of intention). Take Muhasiba (account)
of intention. Hence you need to be in the state of dhikr, whenever we fall in
gaflat then we slip in our intention. Ilm and dhikr always go together.
On the other hands mere actions which are Mubah permissible (swimming,
talking etc.) but not rewarding; they can be turned meritorious if intention is
changed. Sleeping is permissible, but if your intention is changed in order to
conserve energy for worship, then it is virtuous. If you intend to sleep because it
is sunnah, then again this will be rewarding.
If your niyyah is impure, you should not be giving up the action. Because there
are 2 things, Niyyah and action. Through action a person will attain baraqah.

Hadith 2

Religion is Good Will
To act with sincerity
Root verb -
When they were Sincere
Sincere Repentance

I purify Honey

To purify honey, it requires one to sit in and take out impurities, the same way
the heart has good will but is mixed with impurities and is purified by taking out
impure intentions and bad qualities by practising the Deen.
Meaning of Hadith
To give advice and good counsel.
The Sahabah asked: For whom is this Naseehah (Sincerity)?
The Prophet replied: (There are 5 things)

1.

2.

3.

a) True Tawheed
b) Pure Intention effort required by staying in company of pious to correct
intention.
c) Constantly Thank Allah
d) We should never complain to Allah , any misfortune happens to an
individual, it may be due to the shortcomings of themselves.
e) Allah does not need our sincerity.

a) Recite the quraan regularly to attain the nor of the Quraan also by
learning the quraan with tajweed. A person can reach Wilayat (Friend of
Allah) by reciting the Quraan.
Regarding Ubay bin Kaab (R.A.) who was one of the best reciters of the
Quraan, was ordered by Allah to recite the quraan.
b) Understand it by studying under Ulema. The ultimate goal of the quraan is
that, we recite, understand and act upon it in our life.
c) We practice upon the commands in the Quraan. Even though there is a lot
of barakah in the Quraan, but more importantly is to act upon the Quraan.
We have to become an embodiment of the Quraan.
d) We become students / supporters of the Quraan. We should encourage
people of the Quraan by donating for the salary of the Qari, We should
encourage people to attend the lectures.
e) We should recognise the intricacy of the Quraan. Behind each word /
particle there is beauty in its construction and this is unique. Like art.

a) Recognise the status of the Prophet Muhammad . Study the seerah,

He wanted us to live our lives according to the Quraan.
b) Greatest way to praise the Prophet Muhammad is acting upon His
Sunnah. Adopting the way in which He wanted us to be.
c) Balance of Praising the Prophet Muhammad and also practicing His
Sunnah.

4.

a) Leaders - Organisations, government which is in accordance with the

Religion of Islam. People are entitled to their opinions, so there is some
leeway in appointing the leader. Partisan politics has caused harm.
Whenever 3 or more people are travelling, then there should be
appointed an Ameer. After appointing the leader, a person should be
sincere, even though a wrong decision is made, one should not
complain if there is any issue. The husband is the imam of the
household so he has to consult the household. The woman is the
imam of the children.
b) Towards Pious Predecessors. Towards Imaams of Masjids, i.e. we have
sincerity towards our leaders. Whether they are imams or scholars.

5.

Common body of Muslim
This is the most difficult, because the affection we feel for our family and
friends, this is the same affection we should have for the whole
community.
The ummah is as one body, if there is a pain in one part of the body, then
the pain should be felt on all parts of the body.
This includes non-muslim communities also.
a) Dunya Have concern for the welfare of the community.
b) Akhirah Have concern for the persons Deen. The Prophet had so
much sincerity that during the journey of Taif, even though He had
got rejected, He had so much concern for their progeny, that they
would accept Islam. Our time should be taken up in saving ones imaan
and for the muslim community. Our time is taken up in following our
personal worldy pursuits. If we take only what we need and what is
sufficient, and beyond that it is all an amanah . Needs are limited, but
Wants are unlimited.
Hadith 3

Supplication is the Essence of Worship
There are so many acts of worship like fasting, salah, zakat, Hajj, during dhikr,
reciting quran, etc, so a person gets confused. Hence dua shows us that what we
are trying to achieve after doing all the worship.
A person acquires humility and feels inferior in front of Allah which is the purpose
of Ibadah. So in dua this is present. You are asking Allah for your needs
because He is far superior and a person is in a state of perfection in obtaining
humility.

And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who
disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.
Allah does not like the arrogant. Allah does not like one who does not ask
from Him in dua.
Nowadays, it is a ritual without any focus or humility. A few prayers are learnt in
Arabic.
Shiekh Zulfiqar (d.b.) says, We are assigning tasks to Allah
We should be begging and asking in a state of humility to Allah .
When prayers are not being accepted, they maybe for 2 reasons:
a) Own sins
b) Haram Income
If however, even by avoiding this 2 things, and prayers are not being
answered, then that person will have special favours granted to him in the
hereafter in lieu of all his prayers that were not answered in this world.
Sheikh Zulfiqar (D.b.) always adopts his dua to the situation that they are in.
Ustadh Usaama sahib mentioned on one occasion during a trip of umrah,
Sheikh sahib made dua that as a neighbour of the House of Allah, it becomes
a rite of the neighbour to fulfil his wish, and his wish was of forgiveness.

Adaab of dua
a) Start by praising Allah
b) Send Durood to the Prophet
c) Make dua starting with Masnoon and then personal duas thereafter.
Hadith 4

1. Gatherings are to be kept in confidence
2. Gatherings are a trust

1. If two people are gathered together, whatever is discussed then that

should not be spread and disclosed to others.
Exceptions If in a gathering, there is permission, then a person may do
so.
Or if there is explicit permission granted, then they may share the
discussion.

a)
b)
c)
d)

Mulla Ali Qari (rah) mentioned 3 sorts of information that may be

disclosed.
If people are talking about killing someone.
Plundering the chastity of a woman
Stealing / defrauding someone elses wealth.
Sheikh Muhaddith Dehlvi (rah) adds an extraHarm to the Deen or to common people. In this case, it becomes waajib to
share this information.

2. Gatherings are a Trust

Every gathering has a rule, so one will fulfil the role. For example Teacher /
student is established as an amanah.
Teacher will fulfil their role
Student will also have a responsibility to come to class, act upon and write
notes. Also not to misbehave like using social media and not paying
attention in class.
Hazrat Peer Habeeb Ghulam (rah) used to say If you dont have a
notebook, nor a pen, then you shouldnt be my student.
Whenever you are with someone, it is an informal gathering, even if you
are with a friend or family, then one should fulfil the role.
Conclusion
Everytime we are with someone, we should treat it as a trust.
Hadith 4

Modesty is a branch of imaan
Why was haya specifically mentioned?
Haya comes naturally in humans. (Hazrat Anwar Shah Kashmiri r.a.h.)
Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (r.a.h.) was asked regarding Haya. His reply was, When
a slave looks at the infinite blessings of Allah and when he looks at his faults,
then the feeling that he gets is called Haya
Haya is what stops a person from committing a vulgar, rude act, hence it is part
of imaan.
A persons nafs drives towards indecency, but haya stops a person from
committing the bad act.
Due to haya a person is pushed towards righteous deeds and seek the pleasure
of Allah
Haya is the lost treasure of the believers.

Due to people coming from non-muslim societies, it is hard to maintain his

modesty. A person who has lost haya has lost imaan.
When Haya goes from a person, then do whatever you want. i.e. one is no longer
a muslim.
In all situations, and travelling working shopping try to protect our a haya.
During plague one hes been very cautious in maintaining protocol of protection.
Similarly one has to maintain their modesty.
During office, one should act professionally to protect ones modesty.
Hadith 6

A person is with those that he loves.
This hadith gives hope for the believers.
Shane Nuzool
Once a shabi asked the Prophet regarding the Day of Judgement about what
the signs of that the day of judgement.
He asked what have you prepared for that?
I have not prepared anything, but I have love for Allah and the Prophet in my
heart.
At this point the prophet said the person will be with the one whom he loves
Instead of the signs, it will not benefit him, unless he is prepared for the Day of
Judgement. The Day of Judgement will start as soon as he dies.
The grave will be a garden from the gardens of paradise or a fire of hell. This is
the real preparation. If I go to sleep tonight and what will happen if I dont wake
up again.
He was particular about his own deeds. We should also try to look at our own
faults/sins.
The Sahabah was so much involved in perfecting his own faults, that he did not
look at others faults.
Deeday qusool

Worry about our own sins instead other people faults. This was found of this
sahaba (rad).
We can be critical of other people, teachers etc.

Muhasiba

Even if you dont have a got a lot of deeds, but you have true love for Allah and
the prophet
They rejoiced so much, that they have never been this happy ever before in their
lives.

2nd interpretation
What do you say about someone who loves a group of people but are unable to
join them?
So the prophet replied, that A person is with those that he loves.
This is very important for us, because we have been born in a time away from
the Prophet and the sahabah rad and we follow the sunnah then we have a
chance to be resurrected with the Prophet
First sahabah who were with the prophet physically in this life.
Each and everyone can be a sahabah. One who spends time in the company with
of Prophet . If we are lucky to go to jananah and we spend time in the company
of the prophet then we have chance to be a sahabah eternally in the hereafter.
Man ahabba sunnati faqad ahabbani.
The one who loves my sunnah, loves me. One who loves me will be with me in
jannah.
Whether it is internal or external copy of the sunnah, this is love of the Prophet .
Sheikh Zulfiqar dab
If there is a small boy walks to go to school, there was a old woman used to wait
for him. She would lift this boy and hug and she would give him money. Everyday
used to happen. Why are you doing this everyday. The woman said I once had a
son, he looked exactly like this boy. I started remembering my own son. My heart
increased when I saw him. You can draw this analogy of the sunnah. Allah loves
the Prophet so much, if we adopt the sunnah and our physical and internal
body . When Allah looks at ourselves, then when Allah sees us, Allah will
remember the Prophet . He will also start loving us and sending his mercy.
We should guard our love, Allah does not like to mix in our heart. Only those
feelings that Allah has allowed. Love for Allah, Prophet , our relatives etc.
If we have love for ghayr mehrum, dunya etc. Then
Love drives the passion in our life. People are crazy for dunya and are
passionate, and spend entire life achieving it then it is because of that love of
dunya in their hearts.

We need to guard what enter in our heart (spiritual) . They enter through our
senses. Roads to our heart.
We see with our eyes,
We listen to
We touch
We say
If we dont protect these things, our heart becomes polluted. The love of Allah,
whever they see something, they see it as a sign of Allah. When they wudhu
draws them closer to Allah. When they say AllahuAkbar, at that moment if there
is anything that is distracting you in your heart, then Allah has not entered in
your heart. Otherwise it is merely lip service.

Spending time in the company of pious.

Once He sheikh had a flight during transfer flight, when he reached the counter,
boarding has closed, the person with the sheikh, the sheikh started to cry. Why
are you crying? He sad this is because i was reminded, when people will be going
to jannah, what if because of our amal we miss the flight to jannah. This is the
state of the auliya.
Stop being amazed by looking at the dunya protect our gaze. Do not look at the
ghayr mehrum.
The sahabah were like this. During makki period Allah was focusing the love of
the Prophet and Allah. When they went to Medina it was easy for them to
practice the commands.
It is part of human nature that we love something. Why not love that being who
already loves us.
Wallatheena ....Ashaddu Hubbula lillah

Sometimes it can mean we love something a lot, due to responsibilities we

cannot achieve. Somebody wants to be hafidh but due to age or
responsibilities. If he starts to love the huffadh, and supports the huffadh.
Allah will raise him with the huffadh.

Always with the auliya, if we support and spend company, then Allah will raise us
with them.
Al Mustafa (selected one) every single thing was chosen by Allah whether it
was his appearance or his manners. Outward sunnah has relationship with inner.
Like AzZahir and AlBatin

Things that intoxicate, gather sins
Khamar means alcohol (or things that intoxicate)
Consuming alcohol constitutes a lot of sins.
Because they are not in their senses, it leads them to committing so many sins.
There is a lot of wisdom. The muslim ummah is saved from a lot of evil, and
diseases due to avoidance of alcohol.
Drinking alcohol is the root cause of immodest acts and one of the sins which is
the worst a person can commit, it is as if he has committed zina with his mother,
his maternal aunt and his paternal aunt.

Al khamr to cover
It cover their senses. He cannot act with his senses.
Khimaar. shawl women use to cover their head.

8.

Al anat patience deliberation or calmness is from Allah

And Urgency is from Shaytaan

anata comes from

which means to delay

Ujlah comes from
which means to hasten, or to hurry.
2 Interpretations
1. Application to matters of the Dunya, hastening will be from Shaytaan. One
should try to think of consequences before carrying out actions.
Decision making study mistakes are made more commonly due to haste.
People want you to rush in decision making, especially in advertising, so if
a person takes time then, they will be saved from worldly losses. Hence be
calm, collect all information and then decide. If decisions are made in
haste and it could lead to loss then it could lead to wasawis.
2. If somebody delays in matters of Deen however the interpretation is
applied after commencing the ibadah. So one should not delay in starting

the ibadah and not be lazy. Once one starts his worship, the calmness is
from Allah and the hastiness is from Shaytaan.
Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) 3:114

3:114 They believe in God and the Last Day, and enjoin the doing of what is right and forbid the doing of what is wrong, and vie with
one another in doing good works: and these are among the righteous.

This was the sifaat of the sahabah (rad.)

9

.

A believer is simple and noble and a transgressor is deceitful and ignoble (Ab
Dwd, Tirmidh).

Due to the kindness of his heart, a believer is ready to accept whatever

someone is saying to him, so people deceive him.
A believer always has Husne Zun (Positive Opinion) so sometimes he can
be deceived due to not thinking that the person would lie.
A believer is always worried about the Hereafter and the Day of
Judgement, so even if he is deceived he will forgive the other person
because there is a lot of reward for one who forgives. The Prophet is
quoted to have said in a hadith,
On the Day of Judgement, there will be a caller will call out, Whoever has
his Ajar (reward) due on Allah they should stand up and enter Jannah. The
sahabah asked, Who are these people?, the Prophet replied, they will
be those people who forgive others.

The Fajir (open sinner) is deceitful and very disrespectful and dishonourable. He
does not give importance of the hereafter but thinking and strategising about
maximum benefit in the dunya. He will say lies to deceive people to benefit him
in the dunya. He carries a grudge for a long time, he does not forgive other
people.
A person who is very deceitful, wherever will be brought close to the paradise,
and when he will come near, then the doors will shut.

10.

Oppression will be darkness on the Day of Judgment (Bukhr).

Literal meaning of is

To place something in other than its original place.
Purpose of human creation was to worship Allah.

So if human being does not become a slave of Allah, then we are doing zulm.
For example shoes are made for each foot, hence if a left shoe is worn on the right foot, then one is
doing zulm.
It is not right we treat other people with oppression whether by torture or by taking away their
basic rights.
In our daily life our relationships with our families, we have a specific role to fulfil. So if one does
not carry out his duty in that role, then this will equate to zulm.
Opression on every form will be surrounded by darkness on the Day of Judgement. The believers
will have a special light that will be on their right and their left on the Day of Judgement.
Allah says O my Slaves!, I have made zulm haraam on myself, and i have made it haraam on you.
So do not do zulm with each other.
Zulm is not necessarily restricted to a tyrant but in a more broader sense, that not fulfilling the role
which is for each person. The role has to be fulfilled according to the expectations of Allah swt and
His Prophet .
