Working with assemblies

Assemblies use relative addresses for parts

Working with assemblies

If you move a part the assembly might not build
If you rename a part the assembly will not know
its new name
Open the assembly & all parts, then rename the
parts

Pro/E keeps track of changes in trail.txt.* files

dont delete these

Assemble - placement
Indicates a component being placed in an
assembly; the icon
is displayed in the Insert
> Component > Assemble menu and the feature
toolbar

Placement panel
Enables and displays component placement and
connection definition
It contains two areas:
(1) sets and
(2) constraints

Move panel
Use the Move panel to move the component being
assembled for easier access

Motion type

Motion Type - specifies a motion type; the default is Translate

Orient Mode - reorients the view

Translate - moves the component

Rotate - rotates the component

Adjust - adjusts the component's position

Relative in view plane - moves the component relative to the

viewing plane (default) .
Motion Reference - moves the component relative to a
component or reference; this option activates the Motion
Reference collector.

Constraint type
Mate - positions two references of the same
type so that they face each other
Align - positions two references of the same
type so that they face in the same direction, two
points coincident or two axes coaxial
Insert a revolved component surface into an
assembly revolved surface
Aligns the components coordinate system
with an assembly coordinate system
Point of contact is a tangent
Positions a point on a line
Positions a point on a surface
Positions an edge on a surface
Fixes the current location of a component
Aligns the component coordinate system with
the default assembly coordinate system

Offset type
Specifies the offset type for Mate or Align
Offsets the component reference from the
assembly reference by the value specified
Makes component reference oriented on the
same plane and parallel to the assembly
reference
Makes component reference
and assembly references
coincident to each other
Offsets the component
reference from the assembly
reference by the angle value
specified
