Introduction

This document details the VMS Mobifones QoS requirements gathered

through Cisco AS discussion with VMS/DTS, in which Cisco AS is engaged to
provide professional services for QoS design and implementation in
accordance with the project scope.

It is intended for use by VMS Mobifone, DTS, and Cisco AS. This document is
required to be reviewed and signed off by both DTS and VMS project teams.

Assumptions made in this document are that the requirements gathered and
shared form the baseline for providing design and implementation support
services.

Existing Network

VMSs IPBB is an MPLS core network

comprises Cisco ASR9K (P), Cisco
7600/Catalyst 6500 (PE), and distinct
routing platforms from other vendors.

Currently VMS does not enforce any actual

QoS in their IPBB network.

VMS offers below services, among of

which, Voice and Internet access are main
services:

Voice (and Roaming)

Internet access

SMS

Video (Mobile TV, MobileClip, mFilm, MediaCall,

VideoCall)

Game (mGame, WeGames, vGame, Music City,

iLook)

VAS (Entertainment News, Utility, Education,

Music)

Existing Network (cont)

There is no current QoS implementation

(or any planning) for data traffic
classification with UMTS traffic classes
(conversational, streaming, interactive,
background) on mobile service systems
(e.g. SGSN, etc.).

Some VMS centers are in a trial

deployment marking all SIGTRAN and
VOICE & VIDEO call traffic (CS domain)
with DSCP EF (46).

2013-2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.

A few of VMS centers are in a trial

deployment of user differentiation, in
which users with a VIP profile are
granted with a higher priority in radio
access and local processing at each
mobile service system without any traffic
marking.

All transmission circuits contracted from

3th parties (VTN, CMC, VNPT) are with
contracted bandwidth without support for
multi-classes, and thus no traffic marking
required/supported from those providers.

QoS Requirements

Besides of current services,

additional IT services are supposed
to migrate to IPBB network. Thus
QoS implementation is required to
support those as well.

Video conference
VoIP (does not exist currently)
Business applications (user provisioning,
etc.)
Billing applications
Database synch.

2013-2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.

A QoS implementation which

follows fully the 3GPP TS 23.107
specification is not required since
traffic differentiation with UMTS
classes is not implemented on
mobile service systems.

Since DSCP marking for

VOICE/VIDEO call and SIGTRAN
traffic may be not implemented fully
on all CS systems, marking of
those traffic on IPBB will be
considered if appropriate.

Interoperability

It is VMSs responsibility to
enforce QoS requirements and
implementations on all their 3rd
party boxes to ensure end-toend QoS.

2013-2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.

DTS/VMS will take

responsibilities for any
necessary implementation &
changes on NMS systems for
statistics collection and
processing which is essential
for traffic profiling & monitoring.
