6. Strike the UNIBOLT Nut Member with a hammer until it disengages from the choke body. DO
NOT strike the bolt lug. The purpose of striking the nut member is only to relieve the friction holding
the nut in place.
Remove the bolt from the UNIBOLT Nut Member.
7. When the nut member is loose, remove it from the choke body.
8. The yoke assembly may now be removed from the choke.
9. The seal ring should be loose, but, if it is not, replace the yoke hub in the choke and loosely replace
the nut member on the choke. Do not reengage the shelves. Strike the nut member with a hammer
several times to loosen the seal ring.
B. Removal of Stem Seat
1. Remove the yoke hub from the body.
2. With the seat wrench provided, engage the hexagonal head of the stem seat and remove the seat
from the body.
C. Stem Packing Replacement
1. Remove yoke assembly from choke.
2. Remove the cap screws from the stem coupling. The two halves of the stem coupling may now be
removed.
3. Remove the packing gland, grasp lower stem, and pull it from the yoke hub.
4. Pull the packing assembly and replace.
5. Reassemble in reverse order.
III. Miscellaneous Maintenance Instruction
A. Lubrication of Seal Ring Prior to Reassembly
1. Prior to reassembly, wipe the seal ring groove in both the choke body and yoke hub completely
with a clean rag.
2. Using a lightweight oil, flood the ring and the seal ring grooves with oil, and place the ring in the
yoke hub ring groove.
3. Insert the yoke assembly into the choke body.
B. Tightening Procedure for the Nut Member

1. Place the nut member over the yoke hub and rotate the nut member until the shelves engage.
2. Insert the bolt through the bolt lugs and tighten the bolt.
3. While tightening the bolt, it will be necessary to strike the nut member with a hammer in much the
same manner as is used during disassembly. The purpose of striking the nut member is only to relieve
friction between the shelves. The torque applied from tightening the bolt will be sufficient to
completely tighten the nut member. DO NOT strike the bolt lug.
4. Continue this procedure until a visual inspection of the shelves shows that they are approximately
90 percent engaged. This should be sufficient to insure no leakage through the bonnet seal.
5. The choke may now be placed back in service.
C. Servicing of Operator Yoke Assembly
1. Remove the stem coupling from upper and lower stem.
2. Remove the large lock nut on the upper yoke hub and free the operator yoke assembly from the
yoke hub.
3. Remove handwheel and indicator sleeve and rotate the upper stem in the choke closed direction
until it is disengaged from the operator yoke.
4. Clean operator yoke internal threads and stem threads and apply anti-galling lubricant. Replace
upper stem if required.
5. Reassemble in reverse order.
