Article Summary (Who, What, When, Why - complete sentences):
Who? This article is about the Myanmar government and a muslim group.
What? The top human rights official for the United Nations condemned the Myanmar
governments handling of violence in Muslim areas bordering Bangladesh, saying it
risked creating a breeding ground for violent extremism.
When? This has been occurred on Friday, December 16th.
Where? This is happening in Myanmar.
Why? This took place because the United Nations high commissioner for human rights,
described the governments approach to the crisis as shortsighted, counterproductive and
even callous. The United Nations refugee agency estimates that 30,000 Rohingya
Muslims have been forced from their homes as troops have swept through parts of
Rakhine, reportedly burning and looting villages, summarily shooting local residents and
raping women. Government officials have denied the reports as fabrications and said
militants were responsible for burning houses.

Current Event # 10

Your view on the article/ prediction of how this event will turn out (5-10 sentences):
I think its sad that 30,000 muslims have been forced to leave their homes because of this
crisis that has occurred. On top of being forced to leave their homes, some of the women
were raped and local residents were shot. Government officials say that militants were
responsible for burning houses. I believe that those militants should be responsible for the
homes that they destroyed. I know that this probably wont happen, but I hope that those
residents are able to be somewhere safe in the meantime.
I Wonder Questionings: Think of three complete questions that you could ask about the
article subject that are not answered at all or are only particularly answered in the writing.
Question 1: I wonder if the militants will be responsible for destroying the homes?
Question 2: I wonder if those men will be charged for raping those women?
Question 3: I wonder where those families are today?
