IT Alert Accessing Epic from a

Home PC or Personal Device

From: David Reitzel, Chief Information Officer
The Brookdale IT department has received numerous requests for access
to Epic from a home PC or personal device. The following process was
developed to provide remote access to Epic with the assistance of Dr.
Marshall, the Physician Champion who helped test this capability.

This remote access method does NOT require a VPN connection.

Follow these steps to access Epic from a home PC or personal device:

1. First, acquire the Citrix Receiver Plugin (if you dont already have
it). Go to http://receiver.citrix.com/ to download and install the
software.

2. Once the receiver has downloaded, type citrix.c0y6.netaspx.com

into the address bar of an internet window to open the Citrix
receiver login page.

3. When the Citrix login page loads, use your Brookdale login to
access Epic.

4. Upon login, your Epic icons should appear in the window.

Reminders

All PHI (Patient Health Information) and HIPPA rules apply when
accessing Epic from home.

Do not email any patient health information.

Do not share your Brookdale login/password information with anyone

for any reason. Each user has unique login credentials and anything that
is done in Epic will be traced back to the person that is logged in.

This is a serious HIPPA/patient safety violation and will be treated

accordingly.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the

Brookdale Helpdesk at ext. 7500.
