ABSTRACT
Breast cancer is known to have high level of morbidity and mortality to women all over
the world. However, the development of medical world especially dealing with bio
molecular plays an important role so that there are various treatments in dealing with
breast cancer; one of which is chemotherapy. Since chemotherapy in breast cancer
appears in a form of regiment which involves two or more kinds of medicine, there is a
need in considering the potential of medicine interaction. This study aims to investigate
the description of the use of cytotoxic medicine and the potential of medicine
interaction in treating breast cancer at the Central Santosa Hospital Bandung. The
method employed in this study is analytical descriptive observational using
retrospective study. Medical records of 22 patients fulfilling the inclusive criteria from
January-December 2015 are the data collected in this study. Furthermore, the data are
analyzed through related literature covering Stockleys Drug Interaction, Drug
Interaction Facts, Medscape Application, and Journal Articles. The results show that the
most frequently-used regiment is TC (Taxanes dan Cyclophosphamide) (31.82%),
followed by AC (Adriamycin/Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide) (22.71%). In the
meantime, the potential of medicine interaction occurs 149 times on 22 patients with
120 potential cases of pharmacokinetic interaction (80.54%), 27 potential cases of
pharmacodynamics interaction (18.12%), and 2 potential cases of pharmacokineticpharmacodynamics interaction (1.34%); however, the most interaction forms are
between cyclophosphamide-dexamethasone (40.27%) and cyclophosphamideondansetron (34.90%).

ABSTRACT
Breast cancer has a very high morbidity and mortality in women around the world. The
development of medical about biomolecular of cancer therapy modalities become more
diverse, chemotherapy is one of them. Breast cancer chemotherapy is given in
chemotherapy regimens, combination of two or more drugs need for caution the
potential of drug-drug interactions. The purpose of this research studies is to gain an
overview of cytotoxic drug use patterns and potential drug interactions treatment of
breast cancer in the Santosa Hospital, Bandung Central. The study was conducted with
descriptive analytic observational with retrospective studies. Data retrieved from
medical records and profile the treatment of patients. The sample were 22 patients
which fulfilled the inclusion criteria from January to December 2015, the gained data
were studied base on the related literatures (a book of Stockley's Drug Interaction, a
book of Drug Interaction Facts, Medscape application and research journals ). The
research results that breast cancer chemotherapy regimens most widely used is
regimens TC (taxanes and cyclophosphamide) (31.82%), followed by regimen of AC
(Adriamycin / Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide) (22.71%). Potential drug
interactions that occur is 149 cases in 22 patients, with the kind of potential
pharmacokinetic interactions were 120 cases (80.54%), potential pharmacodynamic
interactions were 27 cases (18.12%), and the combination of pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic interactions were 2 cases ( 1.34%). The most common of potential
drug
interaction
is
cyclophosphamide-dexamethasone
(40.27%),
and
cyclophosphamide-ondansetron (34.90%).
