Practice

The teacher distributes handouts and asks the students to

complete Task A and B. They get 6 minutes to do this and
check the answers by one student reading one line and
translating it afterwards.
The teacher writes the following words and expressions on
the board: yesterday, tomorrow, next week, last week, next
month, last month, ago.
Then he asks the students to write down two sentences on a
piece of paper in direct form that include one word each
from the words on the board. Then they have to write two
sentences in reported speech form (no restrictions on these
sentences). After that, the teacher asks them to change
papers with a partner and convert their sentences from
direct speech to reported speech and vice versa. Then they
give the papers back and the original owner has to check if
the conversion was correct.
Finally, they change again, and the teacher selects at least
six students to read whats on their piece of paper for the
others.

The pairs have 12 minutes to discuss and draw the crime
scene. The remaining time is spent with the presentations,
