INTRODUCTION:
As many other FE software the NISA DESIGN STUDIO is one of its kind. The versality
of this package is its simplicity and easy to use specially for wind load and seismic
force generation to structures an to steel truss. For the price that is paid, is small
but we get more value from this software than any other software. It has many
indepenant designs specially the design of
a. Pile design,
b. shells,
c. Circular arch in plan, elevations, and
d. Retaining wall ,
e. Flat slab design,
f. slabs of triangular, sector,
g. Corbel etc.

STEPS:
CREATION OF MODEL:

1. As in other software create the folder in the hard drive to place the file that
will contain the name of the project which is going to be analysed and
designed with the name.
2. Choose the country code-America, British or Indian.
3. Next is the unit specification which is very important to create the model and
the results.

UNITS:

4. There are two Design Modesa.Integrate on line (Analysis & Design)

b. Interactive (Design)

this is shown in the screen shot below & al the above points can be clearly
observed :

Choosing Integrated On line option you will be led to the following screen shot.

The various menu tools are shown below with screen shots. The importance of
each menu tools will be explained in detail in the course time.

5. For any model creation as in other software it is imortant to create nodes and
elements and
6. create the model as per the original model. Create Structure Menu
Nodes-----Create----XYZ Coordinate/Between 2-Nodes as shown in the screen
shot.

7. Completing the node the next step is to create the elements and all the menu
tools are shown in the Screen shot.

8. A SCREEN VIEW OF THE MOEL THAT WAS CREATED AS STATED ABOVE.

9. After the creation of model specify the Material property and Member
properties from the Define menu

LOADS:
5

10.

As soon as the creation of model and specifying the member properties

the next step is to apply the loads to the members which is shown by arrow in
the above Define menu screen shot.

BOUNDARY CONDITION:
11.
In the Structure loads frames/trusses menu there is an item for
Boundary condition and the
same can be specified for the structure.

12.

Before applying the load it is good to create the PANELS ie the slabs in
the model. To create the slabs go to Define menu---Panels which will lead
another menu from where the panels can be formed through one of the
means like Graphical or co-ordinated etc.

ANALYSIS:
8

13.

After applying loads the structure can be analysed through the menu
General Analysis data
(Nisa)file.

.
Before analysis the structure can be verified for any Duplicate nodes or
elements etc theorugh Model verification which is available under the Create
structure menu tool. Even the renumbering can be done for nodes and
elements.

MODEL VERIFICATION:

10

14.

Any information like NODES, ELEMENTS, DISTANCE BETWEEN NODES

etc is possible through the INFORMATION menu.

15.
It is possible to view the NODES, ELEMENTS, SETTINGS, AXES etc

through the VIEW MENU.

16.
The ERASE Menu is similar to the SECTION command as in STAAD. With
this it is possible to view various members of different sections, elevation etc.

11

Please note that this is not a DELETE commnad but

it is a command which is used to ERASE the view from the screen
and the member is in its original status. To delete the node or the
elements need to use DELETE commnad.

DISPLAYING OF LOADS:
Displaying of loads, BMD,Shear forces and other forces is available
unfer the PLOT menu tool bar.

INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURES:

Under STRUCTURAL GALLERY it is possible to create models of various structures as

shown in the screen shots.

19

The above is similar to the preassembled structures as in other softwares.

20

INTERACTIVE (DESIGN ONLY) is an independent design procedure for the

design of members of various sections.

In the screen shot picture you can see the design of the following slab:
1.
2.
3.
4.

6.
7.

DESIGN OF GANTRY GIRDER:

CONCLUSION:
From the bove it is clear that this software is good for easy analysis and design of
R.C.C as well as Steel design. Unless you try to make use of this software you can
not appreciate its significant feaures and easness in input as well as the out put.
The out puts are written in script file in AUTOCAD in which you can edit and do a
good detailing and presentation.

EXAMPLES:
Some of the examples given by Nisa software is furnished below to illustrate the
features that are available with this soft ware and as in any other software you have
to try to learn from the examples from the software as well as from the text books.
EXAMPLE 1: ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF CONTINUOUS BEAM

48

49

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PROGRAM GENEATES THE WIND LOADS FROM THE INPUT
DATAS AND IT IS NOT POSSIBLE IN STAAD PRO AS EASY AS THIS NISA SOFTWARE.
