Welcome to International Seminar on Profiling Professional EFL Teacher. We would like

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Im Sulton. Im the Moderator of todays seminar. Im very pleased to see you here and
welcome all of you to the International Seminar on Profiling Professional EFL Teacher.

This seminar is conducted by English Department and supported by English Student

Assciation (ESA) FKIP UNISMA. This seminar will discuss about how to build a
professional character to EFL teachers in Indonesia.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The first speaker today is His Excellency Dr. Djunaidi Mistar. He is an assistant director and
one of lecturer in postgraduate UNISMA. He has received his bachelor degree at State
University of Malang, then he took his master degree at the same university with the same
major. Then he got scholarship to take his Ph.D in Australia. He took his Ph.D at Monash
University, Australia. Besides, in 2010, he was visiting scholar from Indonesia in East
Lansing Michigan State University focused on language assessment. He is also very active
writing in International Journal. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Djunaidi Mistar with a
round of applause...
And the second speaker is Honorable Prof. Dr. Kim Norman. She is an Associate Professor of
Education at California State University, Fullerton. Prior to her position now, she began her
career teaching elementary school in multilingual urban and suburban settings. She joined the
faculty in 1998 after receiving her Ph.D from Stanford University in Language, Literary, and
Culture. Besides, she regularly presents at professional meetings including the American
Educational Research Association, International Reading Association, and California reading
Association. She also teaches Educational Research and the Study of Teaching in the
Masters Degree program at California State University. Please join me in welcoming Dr.
Kim Norman with a round of applause
Before the presentation begins, lets know the regulation how the presentation will be going
on.
Firstly, I like to give the time to each speaker to present the material for about 30 minutes.
And then, after the presentation, we are going to discussion session, question and answer. We
hope 3 questions from the participants are enough.

Next session we are inviting you to watch the Manggaro Dance by Syofianiss Dance Group/.
There is a unique way/ where the people in some village chase away the bird so as to remov a
way from the rice fields. They make various movements/ and click pieces of bamboo/ in their
hands/, while singing or shouting together/. By that way they hope the birds will go away
while the farmers are enjoying themselves.
Please welcome Manggaro Dance
Its a beautiful dance
But, there is a one dance left
This dance describes/ how farmers cultivate their wet rice-filed/ or sawah, beginning from
digging the land, ploughing, planting, harvesting, taking the crop home, until pounding the
rice/. When the farmers get a successful crop/, they will enjoy themselves/ in a cheerful
festivity. Everybody has the chance/ to demonstrate/ whatever special proficiency he or she
has/. Jumping and dancing/ on the glass fragments/ symbolically means that men/ who are
honest have to bravely face all risks/. Plates in minangkabau symbolize property/ and the
happiness of a home.
